Yeah I thought it wa awful! Under the circumstances I totally understand, but I didn't quite think it worked!

BBC are making more of a fuss than they did on the evening of September 11th!

Even Rachel McLovely is wearing black on ITN at the moment. I didn't realise it was such a big story but then again, The Beatles are before my (and nearly everyone here's) time!

Hmmm, they just brought up an aston for Mel B saying, um, Mel C.
I must agree, the start of the six o'clock news sounded really wonky. It started with a faded in vamp, which kept increasing and decreasing in volume. This was the replaced by the *.15 vamp, with no thunderclaps, which abruptly stopped when we went to Judith Maloney at UK Today, which was then replaced by another faded vamp!
Wouldn't it just have been more sensible to play the one vamp all the way through?!

I think the idea was for the vamp not to clash with the music in the headline vid, but it wasn't really sucessful, especially seeing as the first thunder clap did not play, leaving Darren staring aimlessly into the camera for a couple of seconds awaiting his cue.
The thought was there, but wasn't carried out too successfully!

Yes they should have used the *.15 vamp from the start instead of just introducing it after the George Harrison headlines.
Even North West Tonight used a different vamp without the thunderclaps - they used the still to comr softer vamp, used as the main one by some other regions such as South Today.
Yeah, when a big news story pops up from somewhere I've noticed that BBC News @ 6 usually fill up the headline bed with the top story - quite a good idea, as it grabs the viewers attention, and also the ratings.
I remember they did this on 11th September when the terrorist attacks on America began. I remember the headline bed being filled up with nothing but 'World Trade Center is attacked, collapses, hundreds dead.' - or words to that effect anyway.
Did anyone get a capture? I was at the pub with some friends so unfortunately missed. Everyone is in shock.
I feel its the end of an era and I'm still only 16.

Very sombre end to the Ten O Clock news there. Peter Sissons read a peice about George Harrison, while beatles music played with soft images of archive Beatles. then a few seconds of Beatles music was played, then at the end it showed a black and white image of GH and the caption '1943-2001' - not even the BBC logo was shown, which I think the first time ever that has happend on the news.
Even on the day Jill Dando was killed, the BBC played the full closing titles and wide studio shot at the end, which did suprise me!
Yes, I thought that Peter Sissons was going to break into tears when he was reading that moving piece at the end. I've noticed that when something sad happens, they have a black screen for a few seconds between the end of the news at the next trailer/weather etc.
