I know that the test card isn't real. The graphics can be chroma-keyed to make parts of the graphics missing. Bid still has no sound which seems a real problem.
I don't think they really want to be messing around with chroma-key, keep with the basics
Having worked in TV studios and playout areas that have lost power I don't think they're playing about too much, you do get odd things happening, things stop working that you never even knew existed. You don't really play around any more than you have to to test that something's working
