Surprised no one has posted this news here yet, a major figure who spent time at the top of both the BBC and LWT, died yesterday

The Bland & Dyke regime was when LWT used to be good. All went downhill after the Granada took over. Had the Granada-LWT merger been the other way round then we might have had the strong ITV PLC.

I emailed him directly in 2002 when he was BT chairman, when I was still waiting three weeks after a fault developed on my phone line, to get it fixed. I'm sure my email only made it as far as his office, but next morning the fault was fixed Very Happy

Lets just assume he went to the local cabinet himself and sorted it out. Very Happy

This is my favourite Christopher Bland story, from when he was LWT Chairman, as seen in Under The Hammer by Andrew Davidson.

Him and Greg Dyke used to be great mates, and they sound like a right buccaneering pair when they were running LWT.

Indeed, BT have a department that specifically deals with intercepted emails like yours (and mine)! I have to say it does usually lead to a fast response and personal service.

Is it called the Chairman's Orifice because that's where angry BT customers tell them to stick it?
