It's almost as if the programme was popular with children.

Oh indeed. I’m not trying to be all ‘think of the children!!!’, I just find it interesting how it’s definitely not a children’s show but it sort of is in the eyes of a lot of people

It’s a family show really.

Still boggles my mind that people still immediately assume it's a kids' cartoon.

Channel 4 don't help matters by getting sponsors that target children

Ah yes, that popular children's product... Kingsmill bread.

Kids are well known for not eating bread.

The previous sponsor, just a few months ago, was "Lego Hidden Side", a sponsor most definitely targeting kids.

A recent Simpsons sponsor on Sky One (may have been on other programmes too) was Match.com and it’s sponsorships featured couples getting intimate. Safe to say there are some grown up sponsors for the show also.

Domino's was a long-running sponsor on Sky One (and also on Channel 4 at launch) - but eventually had to give it up because of Ofcom rules around advertising foods high in fat, salt and sugar around programmes which appeal to children.

this article from 2008 has some interesting tidbits - it was the longest running entertainment sponsorship deal on multichannel TV; and "The Simpsons had the highest proportion of under-16s in its audience of any UK TV show running outside children's programming airtime or specifically targeted at young viewers."

I remember after the initial Ofcom ruling, they flipped their sponsor credits to advertise "Domino's delivery service", in case you wanted them to bring you, er, the healthier options on their menu.

It appears to sponsor all of the shows on Sky One except the children’s shows in the morning. The sponsor before that (correct me if I’m wrong) was Universal Theme Parks. I’m pretty sure that one sponsored everything including the kids stuff.

I used to watch the Simpsons at 6pm up to last April and from April 2016 they had no sponsor, they went from Birds Eye to nothing. When I was watching something on C4 a few weeks ago, TS was just finishing and it appears that they now have a sponsor.

Wasn't it the case that at one point Pizza Hut sponsored The Simpsons on Channel 4, and Domino's on Sky One?

Funny thing about that…

Pizza Hut axed its sponsorship of C4’s The Simpsons in November 2005 after the deal inadvertently led to an increase in its rival’s sales.

Yes, Pizza Hut were the first Channel 4 sponsors, Domino's came later. Awful incredibly annoying "Who's In The Hut?" sponsor stings.

If I posed the question, "Who's called the hut?" would it ring any bells? Sad

A bit off topic but I noticed the Kingsmill Simpsons sponsorships (on Channel 4, not on Sky1) are similar to the M&S Food sponsorships for Britain’s Got Talent, both have food with faces slapped onto them.
