I agree. I prefer the later series. The opening titles aren't as good either.

Maybe that's why they aren't showing it. I don't think the beeb showed it much, maybe a few times.

Sky One currently hold the viewing rights to Season One.

Trouble is with the earlier series is that they've been shown so many hundreds of times before they just become dull after a while!

I was a very different programme back then though wasn't it. Seems to be fewer social observations and more cheap (but funny) jokes in newer episodes.

Season 1 was very different wasn't it! Not only the animation and character drawings (i.e. Smithers having a sort of orange face, Barney having blonde hair, Chief Wiggum having black hair etc), but the pace of the episode. Not forgetting of course the voices changing too, especially Homers.

I don't like Season 1 much.

I think that the older series was more focussing on the story more than comedy if you know what I mean. On the newer episodes, there is both.

I understand that some of the first season was animated in the US before moving production to Korea for the subsequent series. "Key" frames are still produced in America, whilst the Korean studio produce all of the frames in between.

Channel Four negotiated for the rights to the later series (from 12 onwards?) so you won't be seeing any of the early shows there.

C4 began the repeats from season 2.

On Simpsons night they mentioned that in series 1 the focus was very much on Bart, but from season 2 it shifted more towards Homer.

Not a Simpsons fan at all, never really got into it - though if I do catch an episode it's generally a good watch.

However, noticed a few days ago C4 screened an episode which looked older and had a shorter title sequence, so was this from season 1?

I stand corrected, but then I'm seldom home in time to see it at 6. Its the relatively new ones on a Friday night I've been enjoying.

You'll know the Season 1 Title sequence, as the bit when Bart is on the Skateboard, instead of skateboarding across the road and then Marges car comes screeching past straight away, there's a bit where he steals the Bus sign from the road as people are waiting and the bus drives straight past and the people start running to chase it. You also see an extra bit with Lisa riding her bike and the books on it jumping up and down which lead into the final bit at the house.

History lesson for you there sir.

Plus that the traffic lights in the first part have square, badly-drawn lamps.
