i'm just wondering...
as of today, when will the US Analogue TV Shutdown be fully implemented?

the original date is TODAY , right?
but what is this 12 JUNE 2009 that i'm hearing about?

Congress a few weeks back, introduced a law which has extended the switch-off date to June 12th to give viewers more time to get ready for the switch. Stations can still change to digital broadcasting before then, but all stations have to switch by June 12th.

Although the deadline has been delayed, as I understand it many stations are going to switchover to digital today anyways as they were already prepared to do it today.

Hmm, I wonder if it's a deliberate mistake at the end where the TV is revealed to be hooked up to composite cables? Smile

Not quite sure acyually because they do not have scart leads in the US, as far as I remember, and know for certain that TV in Oz do not cater for scart.

Is the EU the only continent that has scart?

Not that you can get HD through a Scart lead of course.

Yes, it's a European thing - one of its other names is the 'Euroconnector'

Apparently about 500 stations have switched off their analogue signals. Stations which are owned and operated by the networks have mostly stayed on

Interesting that... the Simpsons have a new TV in the title sequence - and just before the commercial break in the HD episode we see the OLD TV!
