I like it, but.... too long... they should have it for the first few HD episodes, but after that, maybe think about chopping it when they get to the house scene, as it makes it too long after that!

I thought that they were only doing a one-off HD episode and then returning to SD

That would defeat the point in the upgrades Razz

It seems to have the same feel as the movie now

Have just watched the show and it felt odd watching it widescreen let alone HD!

Wasn't the greatest episode every made!

It seems so long ago now, but the title sequence we're all familar with is actually the show's second. The original title sequence was only used in Season 1, much the same style as the familar one but with several differences, include a scene with Bart snatching a bus stop. Surprised it took them this long to change it - but then again, it is one of TV's iconic title sequences!

For the second time in the show's history (some tweaks were made at the start of season 2), the title sequence for the Simpsons has been updated

The first opening was awful really. You know it's one of those earlier bad episodes when you see the darker blue sky opening...

I never understood why Lisa was carrying her saxophone in a guitar case. Nor why her saxophone was blue.

The first openings are only awful because you're comparing it to what you know now and like. By current standards the original opening, yeah okay, it's basically crap. But it wasn't crap in 1989.

The very first season of episodes of The Simpsons is badly drawn, has many original ideas that were subsequently changed, different voices (Homer sounds incredibly depressed through the first season), different colours, etc. But it only looks rubbish when you compare it to today's offerings, which is done digitally as opposed to being drawn with pen and paper. The basic concept of the show is still there in Season 1.

And anyway if you go back even further to the Tracy Ullman Show, the changes are more dramatic from those shorts to Season 1.

Well actually I once heard it was because they new people would be able to tell it was the Simpsons when they flick channels quickly, when they saw the yellow.
