Whittle (Channel 5 at it's finest in it's early days)

Which one was that again?

Tim Vine, looks a lot like Matthew Maude only a bit older, with blonde hair and a basin cut. The guy helped launch Channel 5 (Tim, not Matthew Razz)

Not easy, given that Gary Olsen died in September 2000.

BBCi Story.

Which was probabally the reason the show ended in the first place.

I thought it ended before he died

Well, Gary died 9 months after Series 8 was shown on BBC1. So, I think they would have made another series by then if they ever intended too. Because, apparently, Gary did carry on working even though he had cancer. It was a great show though and I'd love to see some repeats. UK Gold are currently repeating them, but they only repeat Series 7 and 8! I'd like to see some older repeats on BBC1.

Its much better than My Family any day!

Could you get Channel 5 when it started?

We could and we had to put up with looking at THAT man every weeknight at 6 for the next twelve months. And then they dropped it and also presumably dropped him as well 'cos he ain't been on five (or any of the other terrestrials) since.

Isn't he on The Sketch Show?

Luckily Northumberland was immune until about 14 months in so we didn't have to put up with him.

Lucky I wasn't living here - C5 is digital quality on analogue - but only if you are in direct alignment with Selkirk itself - none of the relays carry it nor Freeview.

I think they should bring back Bugs to a Saturday night - much more better than some of the tat being shown currently (e.g. National Lottery, Born to Win, OFAH repeats etc).

Also I agree with the statements on Challenge Anneka - I used to love that show - bring it back! Embarassed

Yup it's the same Tim Vine, plus he's usually a regular on The Comedy Store, which is on Channel 5 and Paramount. But he does do alot of interviews on TV, as he was on Des and Mel not too long back, and he was even more hilarious on The Wright Stuff some time ago. Apparently according to TWS he's Jemery Vine's brother.

To the person who said about repeats of The Krypton Factor, Challenge TV last showed over two and a half years ago, so a repeat would be nice. And to the person who said about Bullseye, I know it's repeated, it's usually on Granada Plus and they are fantastic, they're just so funny.

I knew it had been a while since Krypton Factor was on Challenge, must have been back in the post Challenge? days (when Andy Crane used to present the links). I doubt it'll be back on actually what with the channel's recent shift towards programmes like "Shusi TV" and "Guiness Book of Records" and so on.

Yes Challenge's shift in programming is tragic. It's gone reality TV obsessed showing all US versions of The Mole, I'm A Celebrity, Guiness World Records and now they've bought the US version of the Murder Game. I guess it's reflective of the state of TV, there doesn't seem to be a place in prime time schedules for the humble gameshow these days.

Hurrah - not.
