The theme tune had similarities to Name that tune.

Oh the irony

This is a whole episode that's on youtube.

Complete with a typical Ed Welch theme. Wish he'd done a disc of all his themes... and kept the Central master tapes of Blockbusters. I never got to the bottom of whether he orchestrated the version that was broadcast or whether Central got someone else Confused

Its a strange one, between 1988 and 1991 ed theme were... as you can said typical and you could tell straight away. Yet go to either side and its harder to figure it out.

I've been trying to remember this series for the last few months. Finally put it together (by remembering that it starred Rik Mayall): How to Be a Little Sod. BBC, 1995.

I was just about to post that How To Be A Little Sod appeared to have been airbrushed out of Genome but it hasn't, it appears in its censored version:

Filled a nice little 10 min gap leading up to the Nine o'Clock News initially, then the last two episodes were burnt off in 1996 and it was never seen again. Every episode only ever had one airing and it was never released onto DVD, but was available on video. Good show that.

There was time during 1980 that the BBC produced a series called “ Spine Chillers “, which I remember continuity sometimes referring to as Jackanory Spine Chillers. For the time that it was broadcast, they decided not to put it on at the usual time of around 4.20 ( right after Play School and the cartoon that followed ), but at 5.25ish, at the end of the children’s television slot. I don’t think it was ever repeated.

4 times weekly for a month, another series or show that only had one airing. Makes me wonder sometimes why the BBC orders/makes something and then only airs that series once and its never seen or heard of again, unless there was a contract thing?

Some of us will remember, or have seen on youtube, the BBC1 show "Play it safe" from the 1980s, featuring a much discredited individual. The series was remade in the 1990s, but this time it was Anneka Rice who hosted. Who remembers that series?

The late Ludovic Kennedy is best remembered for presenting "Did You See?" on BBC2. But he also presented a crime series on BBC2, "Indelible Evidence", which if I recall, looked at forensic evidence, and how it was used to solve crimes.

Monster Café. This originally aired on CBBC in 1994 and a few episodes were repeated on CBeebies in 2007. I used to love it when I was 4 and got really sad when they took it off CBeebies...should've moved the repeats to CBBC.

Bread. A comedy series that aired on BBC One between 198something to 1991, with repeats airing on UK Gold for a while. My mum used to love it and it should be illegal to hate its theme song. Laughing

Lyrics:
Gotta get up
Gotta get out
Grab the world by the throat and shout (ooh woo)
Gotta find it, get us a share
Making bread out of nothing but air

Riding high but hitting the ground
Catching the penny but missing the pound
Doesn't matter 'cause we'll soon turn it around
Soon as we get home

B-b-bread
That's why we're trying, home
B-b-bread
We're staying up crying, home
Keep it in the family
We'll be right at home
B-b-bread
We're making out, we'll take it home
B-b-bread
Nothing's gonna break it, home
Keep it in the family

Knockin' on doors, or making a plan
I'll give you a tenner for your old tin can
Buy it, sell it, the game's getting hard
'Cause someone's dealing you a losing card

Got to find it, get us a share
Gotta make bread out of nothing but air
Doesn't matter 'cause we've got someone who cares
Soon as we get home

B-b-bread
Thats why we're trying, home
B-b-bread
We're staying up crying, home
Keep it in the family
We'll be right at home
B-b-bread
We're making out, we'll take it home
B-b-bread
Nothing's gonna break it, home
Keep it in the family

Even though you sometimes feel like leaving
Just pack up your dreams and give up the fight
Someone comes along just as you're leaving
Showing you they care and making it alright
Soon as we get home

B-b-bread
Thats why we're trying, home
B-b-bread
We're staying up crying, home
Keep it in the family
We'll be right at home
B-b-bread
We're making out, we'll take it home
B-b-bread
Nothing's gonna break it, home
Keep it in the family

We'll be right at home
B-b-bread
Thats why we're trying, home
B-b-bread
We're staying up crying, home
Keep it in the family
We'll be right at home
