I'm surprised to see it ran until 2005! I only remember it being around until the early 00's.

While we're on the topic of former end of the year shows I take it The British Comedy Awards are dead and buried?.

Record of the year actually continued until 2013 as an online poll.

After the British Comedy Awards was axed by Channel 4, a press release was issued (which is still on the British Comedy Awards website) saying they were in talks with another broadcaster. I'm assuming those talks never got anywhere and they never found another broadcaster.

Strange thing was, there was some regional difference in the top songs, the last year in 2005 top rated song was actually Shakira im sure???

There was a series of one off programmes on ITV in the 1990s, presented by Eamonn Holmes, called "Oddballs". These 30 minute long shows had some sporting cock ups, and hilarious incidents. One for me which stood out, was from the 19995 Australian V8 Supercars, when there was a crash at Winton, and the two drivers got out, and had fisticuffs.

What was funnier was, the punches were heading towards their heads, and both had their helmets on!

Oh yes - I think I’ve mentioned Kinvig earlier in the thread. As a 9-year-old I loved it; on watching YouTube clips now I’m somewhat underwhelmed by it.

Apologies if this show has already been mentioned...

A forgotten kids show that was aired in the early days of Channel 5 (back when they produced their own childrens shows) was Havakazoo.

Not a lot of the show exists on youtube apart from a few clips. But from memory it featured presenters called Jason and Gabrielle. A robot called Messy and a (puppet) dog called Watchdog. It was an average studio based show with story segments, songs, educational bits. That kind of thing.

A few years later they changed the shows setting to a bakery in a windmill and one of the presenters was Naomi Wilkinson.

Oh and it had an insanely catchy theme tune which even to this day I sometimes struggle to get out of my head.

"Havakazoo, We are the crew,
We're not sure what we're doing here,
We haven't got a clue,
But we'll have some fun,
and so will you,
Havakazoo, Havakazoo, Havakazoo!"

Pretty sure I might have one or two episodes of Havakazoo lying around. IIRC Gabrielle had made appearances on a few episodes of Rainbow in the final years of the original run.

If you're ever able to post them online. Please do! Footage of the show is relatively scarce.

I do see the show as something as a successor to Rainbow . But with less of a budget thrown at it. There was an edition on Youtube a few years ago. It was amusing to notice that Watchdogs voice completely changes when he sings....in fact his singing voice sounded just like Jason's.

There was also a section in the show called 'Nosey' which featured an animated camera following a group of school kids visiting something interesting.

There is quite a random compilation of clips from the show right here

It seems certain ITV companies hated this series, and moved it, It wasn't as bad as the other ITV series which it was paired up with "Roots" about some dentist Alot of ITV hated and either dumped it to late night, https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/roots/

Two forgotten Challenge gameshows

TV Scrabble - With Toby Anstis (and later Eamon Holmes).

Stake Out - With Anthony Davis.

Both of these were repeated loads at about 3am on FTN and Virgin 1. I would often catch them as I was a total insomniac.

Didn't Stake Out feature an appearance from Mark "The Beast" Labbett in an early TV outing?
