I don't think anyone's forgotten the Demon Headmaster!

I do actually have an episode of fudge on VHS too!

Haven't seen this ITV children's programme for around thirty five plus years. I remember it only being on once a week so I maybe wasn't aware of this particular series of Stepping Stones. ( I'm nearly 43 ). As a young child loved and was transfixed by the title animation.

Perhaps more unusual and interesting is the presenting team of Keith Barron and Elisaeth Sladen.
Good to see an excerpt online.

Another kids programme I remember vaugely, in the lunchtime ITV slot, usually before News at one, was "Let's Pretend".

On the subject of kids TV, does anybody remember the unfortunately named Christopher Lillicrap who seemed to be all over children's TV in the 80s?

a special CBBC Pantomime special version as part of the CBBC Big Bash event in Birmingham that went out on Christmas Day 1997

I saw that live at the Big Bash. I seem to remember it featured Stuart Miles, Dave Benson Phillips and randomly the long forgotten boyband Upside Down.

Most people on here won't have forgotten the Demon Headmaster but its last airing on CBBC in any form is the best part of ten years ago now and the thread subtitle does say "classic shows you remember but the public might not". Three series were made including, apparently, a special CBBC Pantomime special version as part of the CBBC Big Bash event in Birmingham that went out on Christmas Day 1997. The first series is/was on DVD.

Possibly my favourite ever CBBC series. Dark and absolutely terrifying. The underscore was haunting and only added to the scariness of Terrence Hardiman's character.

Somewhat surprisingly, they released everything on the BBC Store last year - by the time I found this out, the store had closed down Sad

Someone once uploaded everything to YouTube (albeit VHS quality), but BBC Worldwide had the clips taken down.

One of the reasons I don't like buying DRMd video (like the BBC Store was), or using streaming services, they can be taken down at any time possibly with little to no notice (and even if there is notice, once it's taken down you can't watch it any more), and you can't watch them any more- it's why I still prefer physical media (not to mention the videos can be 25/30p when the original material was 50/60i- so visually inferior, though encoding such video at 50/60p has at least become more common recently). I don't want to pay money for something I might not be able to watch in a few year's time (and don't have the freedom to watch when and where I want that I do with VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray). That happened to my cousin once who was watching a TV show on, I think, Netflix, and they took it down while she was part way through and she had to buy the DVDs anyway to see the rest!

Talking about Children's TV shows, who remembers the great Children's Ward on ITV?

Children's Ward. Launched the careers of many who are still on screen today or in the industry. Will Mellor for one. Russell T Davies (of Doctor Who and Sarah-Jane Adventures fame) was a producer on the Ward for a few years and Tim Vincent, soon after the Ward would go and do Blue Peter for a few years.

There were plenty of actors/actresses in Children's Ward who went onto Coronation Street - Nikki Sanderson, Tina O'Brien, Samia Longchambon, Alan Halsall and Jane Danson.

Yeah, him and Ralph Mctell both did music and story type pre-school programmes at lunch times. Mctell with Alphabet Zoo and later Tickle on The Tum.

To be honest I always thought his name was Lillicrab until fairly recently. Not that I'd have known why it was a funny name at that age
