Funnily enough, I actually remember that quite distinctly; it was the first thing I thought of when The Simpsons did the episode with Poochie.

Which actually predates that by a few years! Though networks have been forcing new characters into TV shows for decades (and usually ruining them in the process).

The Simpsons of course managed to ruin itself a long time ago without needing any network interference.

I genuinely have no memory of Histeria ever been shown here, though from what I've seen of it, it's not very good, mostly cos it's "edutainment". A shame, being from the same people as Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Pinky and The Brain.

I remember loads of Hanna-Barbera stuff being shown on CBBC well into the 90s. I remember them showing that bizarre Flintstones sketch/variety show from the 70s during the breakfast slot in the late 90s!

I also have on video the last few seconds of a screening of the 50s Felix The Cat cartoons that for whatever reason got repackaged with a new theme tune in the early 90s. Speaking of that I'll also point out The Twisted Tales of Felix The Cat from the 90s- though I think CITV showed that one.

Histeria was deffo screened over here, CBBC breakfast show, Im sure it got a repeat airing on the sunday morning slots aswell.

Which one?

I remember Histeria being broadcast on CBBC and checked on BBC Genome, mainly it was broadcast on the CBBC Breakfast Show and CBBC Summer Holidays Mornings on BBC Two around the turn of the millennium.

On the subject on Channel 4 kids shows, anyone remember Take 5?

It a compliation show shown usually weekday lunchtimes IIRC and would feature a mixture of British and European cartoons and shows. Regulars included Mr Men, Mad Lizzie and Joggy Bear, Tales of the Riverbank, Ivor the Engine, Miffy, Mio & Mao. It probably had one of the most annoying and random intros ever...

As far as I can remember, Animaniacs was NEVER on CBBC, and Pinky and the Brain only appeared on there briefly about 10 years back.

Pinky, Elmyra and The Brain did get a brief run on CITV in 2001- shoved out in a Saturday afternoon slot as if they had to show it and just wanted to get rid of it.

I believe Pinky and brian did make it on to CBBC, along with Taz mania. Pinky, Elmyra and The Brain did start off on the weekday slot but as said was moved around to burn it off, but at least there broadcast the full series.

Taz-Mania was on most afternoons on CBBC. I think Pinky and the Brain was aquired for 'da Bungalow', but CBBC might have shown it separately (as they did with Batfink).

Speaking of that, anyone remember BB3B?

That was a hard show to remember the name of.

Sali Mali is Welsh too, of course. Wink

And Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain was the last Warner Bros. Animation/Amblin co-production, before a certain Japanese cartoon based on a certain Nintendo/Game Freak video game series came along... Wink

Extreme Ghostbusters is another late '90s animation that probably isn't well remembered on this side of the Atlantic these days. Amusingly enough, CITV showed it alongside its predecessor, the more successful (and, of course, better known) Real Ghostbusters...

Helping Henry on Channel 4, about an alien disguised as a dining chair. Post Countdown slot filler I believe.

All that exists of it online is a trailer.

Probably one of my earliest TV memories, especially Joggy Bear! How long did it run for?

The Flintstones, and its seventies spin-offs, were rarely shown as part of CBBC, though - when they film came out they showed it quite a bit and they might have screened one or two earlier but normally it would be before or after CBBC. For a time they showed it at 6am before Breakfast News, and I remember someone writing into Andi Peters' column in Fast Forward where he answered your TV questions, asking why they'd stopped doing that. I remember him saying that it was actually bought by the Beeb for adult audiences, and it was too expensive to keep showing at 6am to no viewers, so they'd moved it to the 10am slot on Mondays which for the rest of the week was home to the repeat of the previous day's 1.50 quiz.

You're right about the re-edited Felix The Cat shorts in the early nineties, and there was also the Ralph Bakshi revival of Mighty Mouse around the same time. This was a completely new series - which I can see from Wikipedia also showcased the talents of Jon "Ren and Stimpy" Kricfalusi - which I found very enjoyable as a kid, but I remember they also did a couple of episodes using recycled and re-edited footage from the original series, much to my bemusement.

Yes it always seemed strange for the Flintstones to be in the 5.35 slot introduced by the CBBC presenter over the globe rather than just part of the CBBC output.

Speaking of early morning cartoons, I remember Channel 4 showing Heathcliff before the Channel 4 Daily. I remember on more than one occasion getting in trouble and being sent back to bed because I'd got up to watch it.

From my final few months of watching CBBC as a kid/teen Fudge...

Best I could find is this poor quality capture from a phone recording tv. As Andrew said earlier this features the typical 90s family for a US kids comedy Very Happy
