100% was pretty good, until that guy (forget his name now) kept winning every single episode for months.

Try watching French game shows, some of which are designed to have the same winner for months on end.

According to UKGameshows.com it was Ian from Hemel Hempstead. They had to change the rules of the show as he won 75 in a row.

I remember Ian from Hemel Hempstead and his run on 100%. Remember flicking over to see if he was still there every other week and this literally went on for months as you'd expect. 100% IIRC was weekday daily so 75 shows was near enough four months and a set change in the process. It would have been more fitting for him to leave after 100 shows = £100 a win and after 100 shows but there we are. I suspect he was the only undefeated champion except possibly whoever was on a winning streak on the last show.

To shows that people may forget, here's Dogtanian:

Dogtanian dates from 1981 but wasn't aired in the UK until 1985 and IIRC being originally aired in Japan it ultimately ended up having that odd "mouth says one thing voice says another" effect when it was dubbed into English years later. Thames eventually got involved in the second series in 1989.

Didn't some American game shows have a "returning champion" too?

Jeopardy! has always had a returning champion system. In the early days they were restricted to 5 wins, but in 2003, this restriction was lifted. Ken Jennings won 74 games and over $2,500,000 before he was defeated.

It was actually Spanish I believe, though I think it was animated by a Japanese studio. Same with Willy Fog.

The Satellite Show. Some gameshow on CBBC that was back to back with Knightmare on CITV.

Has anybody got a list of what CITV and CBBC programmes were back to back with whatever was the popular or cool programme on each channel? I can vaguely remember that exciting cartoons on CITV were often back to back with Jackanory, or some other dull stalwart, on CBBC but I cannot remember what was back to back on CITV with the exciting cartoons on CBBC.

The public were outraged too. Or... as outraged as you could get before the days of Daily Mail comment sections and Twitter.

A few forgotten late 90's/early 00's CITV and CBBC shows which spring to mind...

Crazy Cottage - CITV game show hosted by Rick Adams and later Jez Edwards. All the games took place inside said cottage (complete with wonky windows, doors and garish colour schemes). Games often featured some backwards or back to front gimmick.

Johnson and Friends - Australian show which CBBC aired (and Tiny Living did at one point too). Featuring a group of toys that came to life when no humans were about. It predated Toy Story by a few years.

Snug and Cozi - CITV slapstick series from the late 90's about two bumbling space men who crash land on earth and have to adapt to human life.

Bug Alert! - Not CITV or CBBC but aired on ITV in the early mornings as part of GMTV (and later moved to Channel 4). Featured a group of puppet bugs who lived in a kitchen.

Eliminator - Early 2000's CITV game show which was very similar to The Chase. Groups of kids had to answer questions correctly to move across a giant game board and avoid being caught by Eliminator (some guy dressed up in a scary costume).

Monster Cafe - CBBC series about a cafe run by Mummy, Frankie and Igor. Monsters frequented the cafe which served dishes like slugs on toast and spider milkshakes.

Bitsa - CBBC art show from the early 90's. Was very surreal in tone. I always remember the robot hands character who would make things while laughing to himself.

Get Wet - 90's CITV gameshow presented by Simeon Courtie. Games all revolved around water.

Pump it Up - Yet another forgotten CITV game show. Presented by Andy Collins and Julia Bradbury. Julia left after the first series and was replaced by Fearne Cotton. Games featured inflatables and gunge. The finale of every show was the "Gunge-a-Thon". An assault course the teams had to get across to win the show.

Wake Up In The Wild Room - Saturday morning show hosted by Dave Benson Phillips.

Is that the same Andy Collins of Family Fortunes fame and ITV warm up man?
