Right I have been told to keep my SS chat to this thread so I have written what happens to the characters who were in it on the HTV episodes before Christmas and who WONT be returning in the 2001 eps we will be seeing in 2003 on ITV1 Wales. HTV got to the end of the 1998 season so we will miss all of 1999 and 2000 and up to April 2001.
Caroline Buxton played by Tandi Wright
Caroline gets involved with baddie Greg Pheeny however he is shot by drug dealers and leaves the country. During his absence Caroline gets engaged to a doctor working at the clinic. However she falls in love with a woman (also a doctor) but when Greg returns to the show she sleeps with him, falls pregnant and although she loves her girlfriend she leaves with Greg and she is never heard of again. Her final appearance was on 18th Feb 2000.
Bridget Hastings played by Katie Wolfe
Shortly after the eps we have been watching Bridget is diagnosed with a brian tumour so she and David go to the stated for treatment. David returns after a while and its clear he has fallen back in love with Ellen. Bridget also returns briefly but after seeing David loves Ellen she returnes to the states and a job there. She leaves for good around April 1999.
David Kearney and Ellen Crozier
After falling in love with Ellen again, she and David leave to run a farm in Hawkes Bay after David is forced to give up the clinic due to ill health. They leave in November 1999 and the clinic is taken over by Sofia Martinz.
Minnie Crozier played by Katrina Devine
Ellen's daughter Minnie is raped by Oscar Henry however after she gets over this and had one or two other disaster relationships she leaves the show with Waverly's brother Stratford around Feb/March 2001.
James Thornton played by Chris Dykzeul
After having a relationship with the Acting D.O.N Lyndsay Maguire they both leave the show for Melbourne where he completes his training to become a doctor.
Lionel, Mackenzie and Luke
Lionel drown around March 1999, Mackenzie leaves after blowing up the clinic in May 1999 and Luke ends up getting married to his pregnant girlfriend and leaving around June 1999
Oscar Henry played by Christopher Brown
After raping Minnie, Oscar is attacked and almost killed by Mackenzie Choat after he set her up to take the blame for stealing £1 million of the clinics money. He is in a coma for several months and is killed when Mackenzie blows ups the clinic in May 1999.
Daniel Buchanan played by Jack Campbell
Daniel and Rachel get together but have an on-off relationship. They end moving to LA and getting married but after a while Rachel comes home to NZ after he fails to be faithful to her.
Moira, Earl and Shelly Crombie played by Geraldine Brophy, Malcolm Murray and Natalie Dennis
Earl is killed in a car crash after drink driving in July 1999, shortly after this Shelly moves to Germany. Moira gets back together with Dean Cochrane the man who let her take the blame for the robbery years ago and they get married but end up leaving the episode before we re-join the show in April 2001.
Frank Malone played by Christopher Hobbs
Frank gets together with Rachel Mckenna but she ends up choosing Daniel over him. However when Rachel announces her marriage is over she and Frank get together again but unable to make her mind up Frank leaves her and the show in Feb 2001.
Mike Galloway played by Oliver Driver
Not 100% sure what happens to Mike but I think he gets fired by Ellen and then just leaves. Basically Ellen tells him one mistake too many, bye bye I think. I know he leaves in late 1999.
This should cover most characters - Donna, Rachel, Nick, Waverly and Dr Chris Warner will all be back.

I cannot wait now to see Carlton have managed to squeeze over TWO years worth of stories into a 25 minute slot!
This should be fun! Might even have to record it!

They will probabaly just show some recent Central storys well we'll see in about 40 mins - the programme aims to achieve 3 different things
1 - For HTV viewers to catch up
2 - For London and West Country to be introduced
3 - For Central a recap of recent events as viewing figures have been falling in recent months
Now would be a good time for new viewers to start watching in the HTV and Cen region.

Central ITV are showing a 30 minute ''Shortland Street - Carlton* Compliation''
I've been watching and It does look good.
The Shortland St charters show you what Is coming up In the next episodes of Shortland Street.
It has a new look! ...but what I would like to know Is how old are the new episodes that we are going to see?

What did everyone think about the special programme today. I was impressed they got Angela Bloomfield and Michael Galvin to present it! Looks like we have some exciting storylines to come on SS over the coming months what with Kate jumping off that cliff and all the stuff with Rachel and Chris. Much better than a certain other soap from downunder which are sooo boring.
