For a programme that is at a regional level, in a death slot with no promo, I think hundreds is pretty good if you look at the break down of location you will see the Central region is still where Shortland Street has its core fan base.

Yeah Central is probabaly where most of the viewers come from - this is because firstly Central is one of the biggest (if not the biggest ITV region) and also it was shown for years and years on Central. Although London is probabaly bigger than Central population wise they wont have as many viewers as it was off for years in London and has no real fan base. HTV is small in comparison to Central and also they had a drop in viewers due to losing 2 years worth of storylines.

Maybe if Central/HTV had carried on as they were last year the show wouldnt be axed (provided they had slots of course) - im sure Carlton do take viewers for the individual regions though as they said Westcountry figures were *very* poor - but I guess when you add all Carlton figures together it is overall poor due to London/Westcountry.

Farewell to Shortland Street!

It has brought me many moments of enjoyment!

It appears that ITV1 Carlton Westcountry and ITV1 London havent even bothered to show this last week's episodes at all!

So I cant really see that as being a good omen for it coming back as a network programme Sad

Westcountry dropped it last week and London dropped it yesterday as they had a regional prog to show today.

I will miss Shortland St as ive watched it since I was at school. I hope another station picks it up soon.

I also think it was so unfair that Carlton never even told us it was the final episode today.

You've not been left on any exciting cliffhangers have you?

The end of todays episode was nothing very exciting considering its been on for 10 years - although thats better than having a big cliffhanger left open I suppose.

I think its more annoying than when Crossroads was axed as firstly I didnt like Crossroads half as much as SS and also that came to a natural finnish with a conclusion - several SS storys are still open including Matt and the girl he met on the internet and the Rachel/Jack thing

You could look on the net, to find out what happened in those storylines. I know it’s no way near the same as watching them, but it’s better than nothing if viewers really want to know.

Yes I have a fair idea of how the Rachel/Jack storyline ends anyway but will read the episode guides in detail for the eps I will now be missing.

I also have quite a few videos with eps of SS recorded so will occasionally watch some episodes - I have lots of the major stuff like the 1997 finale and Tiffany's death - HTV were so far behind they only showed these storylines a year or so ago.

I cannot believe they did not announce it was the final episode after 10 years you think it's the least they could have done.

Eugh, Shortland Street gives me the creeps. Good riddance I say; put some decent British programming on.

Does that include Shortland Street?
