Well I think HTV should have kept with the original storylines from the previous series of SS that they broadcast!

I agree with that - the whole point of skipping episodes was so we would be in-line with Central like the other regions - but now everytime they skip an ep we fall a bit further behind.

This current series isnt a patch on the old one and i dont care if HTV Wales do skip the odd episode here and there for a regional programme!

The old episodes were generally considered better because all the best characters were in it - although the new cast are generally good characters I dont care about them as much as I did with the old cast. The storylines have improved a bit in the last few weeks too.
The show might get worse in the 2003 season when Rachel (Angela Bloomfield) and Matt (Roy Snow) leave the show. But I doubt we will have SS by then unless they keep the regional slots going until 2005!

But we are 3 eps behind the other Carlton regions - surely it would be better if we were in-line with them - maybe they will show it on a Friday for 3 weeks when the regional program ends so we will catch up?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh well it looks like Carlton have decided to stop showing the Wales episodes out of step with the network and are now showing the SAME episode as the rest of the network!

No apology or anything - typical!

I wonder what happened to Waverley and that big cliff hanger? I will never know now Sad

Im giving up on Shortland Street now - everytime I just get back into it HTV decide to lose a few (hundred) episodes and I keep losing track of the storylines.

They could have easily shown the two missing episodes today instead of Quincey and then everyone would be happy!

I am not watching Shortland Street anymore!

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I agree HTV could have shown the 2 missing episodes instead of Qunicy. It seems Carlton dont care about the viewers.

I think Shortland Street has been good this week with the Judy storyline where she has got involved with that cop

I have info here for this weeks episodes of SS. Im looking forward to seeing the musical which should be on Thursday's episode

Quote:
Shortland Street goes panto this week when hospital staff take to the stage for a spectacular performance of 'Beauty Mine', starring heroines Rachel McKenna (Angela Bloomfield) and Chris Warner (Michael Galvin).

When head of the social committee, Waverley Wilson (Claire Chitham) rallied for staff to create a musical, the idea was mooted until finally Waverley won through. Shortland Street would stage 'Beauty Mine', directed by Nurse Matt McAllister and starring staff and family of New Zealand's most popular medical drama.

'Beauty Mine' is the story of Sleeping Beauty set in a Thames gold mine that the teenage Matt wrote for the Thames operatic society.

Following auditions, hospital staff nervously awaited the results of Matt and Waverley's casting decisions. When the list is finally posted up, Rachel is horrified to discover that the climax of the musical comes when she and Chris, playing prince and princess, have to kiss.

For long time Shortland Street actor, Angela Bloomfield, who's actual voice is used in the musical, initially recording her song was both terrifying and daunting, having never sung in a musical before, let alone playing the lead role.

"I rolled up to the recording studio petrified. I've never sung professionally, just in the shower really! But the whole thing ended up being heaps of fun.

"And it was also a godsend working alongside Michael Galvin, because he's actually had experience singing in musicals and was voice trained at drama school."

At an advantage to Angela, Michael's previous experience pulled him through any pre-performance jitters, having appeared in musicals "Blue Sky Boys", and "Phantom of the Opera", earlier in his career.

"There were still some nerves," admits Michael. "Not so much about my solo, but Chris has to rap against Victor in a sword fight scene, and a rapper I ain't! But that was OK because Chris Warner isn't meant to be good at it, so it all kind of worked out!"

On the night, Rachel and Chris will appear alongside co-stars Judy Brownlee (Donogh Rees), Joe Hudson (Rawiri Paratene), Donna Heka (Stephanie Tauveihi), Toni Thompson (Laura Hill) and Victor Kahu (Calvin Tuteao).

But surely the most exciting moment for viewers will be the grand finale, when hero and heroic, Rachel and Chris, come together in romantic ending, sealed with a kiss.

As Rachel's new boyfriend, Jack Hewitt (Manu Bennett) watches on, the pair lock lips for a rousing show finale. But where will the chemistry go from there.

The musical was very good, I really enjoyed it. I thought Judy, Donna and Chris all had great voices, I think there is a lot of talent in the SS cast.

And LOL at Jack's face when they were singing that last bit - I think id actually prefer her to be with Chris rather than Jack, although he is nicer looking he seems a bit too controlling -the way Chris and Rachel were looking each other when they were singing its so obvious he feels the same way as she does.

Cant wait for the next episode, I love this show atm Very Happy

That musical was totally stupid and served no purpose!

It was obvious they were all miming!

HTV Wales could have easily jumped THIS episode!

Oh come on it was a bit of light hearted fun, something different to usual and I really enjoyed it. I dont think they were miming - well not the main singers anyway, you could tell Michael Galvin (Chris) and Angela Bloomfield (Rachel) were singing - although I have to say I dont think Angela has a good voice, far too high pitched but obviously it wouldnt have been the same for the Rachel/Jack/Chris storyline if someone better at singing has done it. And I doubt Steph who plays Donna was miming either as I think she sings in real life, and she has certainly sang on the show before.

I dont think it was pointless at all as the musical is crucial to quite a few storylines mainly the Rachel/Jack/Chris one but also Adam/Waverly - and Waverly was a great stage manager too! And Matt too, looked so cute when he was in a panic over Barb collapsing at the start. Personally I prefer him over Jack and Chris!

hehe Smile

It wasnt really THAT bad - ok!

But it reminded me of an episode of 'Neighbours' from many moons ago.

I thought SS was above Neighbour-type stories and is missing the medical drama now!

See i know you LOVE the show really Very Happy

Maybe it is more like Neighbours because they have 2 families in it now (The Heywood and Hudsons) and lots of stuff going on with them rather than individual characters - I watch both Shortland Street and Neighbours but ive always much preferred Shortland St.

Well quite obviously if you watch it then you must need a brain transplantas you are the one that always moans about it Razz

ACP? Move with the times will you, that show was good in the 1980/90s but would seem so dated on ITV in 2003

Having viewed the episode you mentioned I have to say I really enjoyed it - it was good to see Tehana and Donna standing up to Ray - and also seeing everyone enjoying the party at Donna's house.

Also in todays episode we got the scene with Matt waking up after the party wearing very little - and very nice that was too.
