Samara is really good at the moment, only hope this storyline with the teenage prostitute does not get cut, Carlton seem happy to cut a lot of the sexual refernces out like showing condoms which I never understood as it is promoting safe sex. Confused

Today's episode was so good! I cant believe how two faced Samara is - the final scene where she was talking to that snobby woman in the toilets about Barb and Barb was listening - " I had to loan her a pair of shoes for the evening, her usual footware comes straight out of hookers r us"

Poor Barb she was really upset.

This week has been really good they seemed to have balanced things nicely and got back to the ensemble show, also they are using a lot more location shots now than they ever have before, it's nice to see more of NZ. Smile

Yesterdays ep of Shortland St was really good - I cant believe the extent of Samara's scheming.

Also nice to see one of the show's original characters, Alison, mentioned a lot. Is it 3 times that Chris Warner has got married? I know he was married before SS began, he married Tiffany and then divorced her to marry Alison. I heard a rumour he married Alison twice?

I liked Alison but Tiffany Warner was one of my fave's

I also think the storylines involving Barb/Sefton/Paddy is very good too.

And on the official SS site they have an article about Matt and Toni - this contains spoilers though as it goes right up the the current NZ storylines. In the Uk we are currently at July 2001. I have to say looking ahead the storylines look excellent.

I think the storyline with the nurses threatening to take action over the wage despute is great. Cant believe Toni has stabbed her friends in the back and signed her own individual contract and to hell with her mates. She calls it "looking out for herself" but she is just so selfish messing up the negotiations. Matt deserves better than a backstabbing cow like her for a mate.

And Donna is really ***** me off at the moment - she isnt a nurse but she is poking her nose in at every turn. And whats she done to her hair? She looks like a right dog now Shocked

If Donna isn't allowed an opinion, then neither should Judy, seeing as she has an individual agreement as well.
And as for Toni, she has to do what's the best thing for her - her colleagues are NOT her responsibility. Also, the nurses are being selfish, they're more than happy to work to rule when it comes to taking their break on time, but they're not so keen to actually get back to work on time, are they?

The reason Judy has an individual contract is because she is the Director Of Nursing (DON) and she obviously manages the other nurses so is involved in this despute over their pay. Donna isnt a nurse neither is she linked to the nurses in any way so she has no right expressing her opinions and her role in the show seems to be sticking her nose in all the time.

I dont think the nurses are being selfish working to rule as this is the only was they can try ands get the wage they deserve, all the extra hours they have probabaly worked I think they deserve to come back from their breaks a bit late Very Happy

The nurses are doing what it take sto get a fair deal in the public sector but we all know it is Samara who is manipulating the situation to her own advantage, I cannot wait for her downfall.

A petition asking ITV to move Shortland Street to 5pm in all regions has been set up on the UK Shortland Street site.

We need to get loads of signatures to send to ITV if we want SS to replace Crossroads. Otherwise we will end up with endless repeats of You've been framed

The petition can be found here : Shortland St Petition

NOoooooo!
Bring back "The Young Doctors" if you want some real drivel and a laugh!

It was nice to see the recaps make a return to the show today. Now we have the SS logo followed by a recap from the previous episode and then the credits so it more like ER now.

Todays episode was #2291 and was shown on Monday 23rd July 2001 in New Zealand Very Happy

Samara's downfall happens quite soon - she leaves the show the week after next but I wont say what happens.
