There just seems to be a general lack of energy, maybe due to Vic and Bob's ageing (I noticed in the last episode that they were out of breath after their opening jazz fight). The panellists have been poor too, it's definitely missing a spark.
George Dawes, the opening musical numbers and the final challenges have been the only saving graces.
Disappointing because the first 2 episodes were really promising but it's ran out of steam badly. A pale shadow of its former self.

When you consider Vic and Bob are both 50 now, I see what you mean but I don't think that's the major problem. It just seems very repetitive this series...yes.. there are the usual recurring segments but even the gags seem the same this time. Not a fan of Angelos either.
I actually like Angelos a lot, and have really been enjoying this series.
Me too.

I don't know if it was due to editing, or a deliberate omission, but I noticed there was no 'Eranu' or 'Uvavu' last night.
I noticed that - if you recall when the series started that was the one clip I saw and I though, "oh god..." - but have been enjoying every other aspect of it.
The inflatable head last night was hysterical.
I imagine Lenny Henry was wishing he could be so funny.
Tell you what I do love as well - the opening titles with the frightened rabbits - they are hysterical!
Also quite like the clever wipe from titles to desk - using the butterfly as the wipe mask.
*super*

I think the show is superb: and I've only ever seen the odd episode of the old series, so I can't comment on comparisons with how it used to be, but it's hilarious. I'm really getting to like Angelo, and I think the presentation of the show is fantastic. I know it's a simple set, but the wipe from titles in to the intro, as well as using the backdrop well with the gobos, the moving lights and changing colours, it just works really well and looks good.
Some really obvious edits in episode 4, with the feet of the dove from above appearing behind Vic in some jokes which had obviously been lifted out of that round and dropped in elsewhere.

I noticed that too. I also noticed last night at one point early in the episode there appeared to be a couple of soap bubbles floating above Bob's head with no obvious explanation. I wonder if some skit had been edited out. Or maybe I missed something.
Continutity errors are nothing new to Shooting Stars, although in the past I'm sure they were intentional. Vic used to put a hat on or off at random intervals in order to confuse whoever was editing the programme, or in some episodes, plastic bugs used to appear in random places or on Vic's face.
