I think that Derren Brown is far better than David Blaine, because he admits that what he does it just a trick. The true skill of Derren is that he knows how to manipulate people using baisc psycology. I very much doubt he'll end up dead at the end of it.
Yeah - the trick he did where he made people close their eyes and then made them think they were being touched has to be one of the most incredible tricks i've seen.
Is this a fix (i.e. either he definitely won't shoot his brains out, or there's a big delay on the feed) or is it for real because I swear there must be something against it.
There is 'something against it'..... what he is doing is illegal in the UK and many other countries. It took them a while to find a location for the programme.
I think it would probably work using his remarkable mathematical dexterity.
For example, if he was using an ordinary revolver with one bullet in one of the six chambers, he'd know which chamber it was in and, if he was sharp enough, could probably "count" the clicks the gun made as the revolving portions span round, so then he'd know when it stopped (even if he couldn't see the gun) exactly which chamber it had stopped by.
I think the idea is that if he knows the bullet is in the firing chamber he'll, well, say something.
Either that, or it's a trick he's playing on the member of the public who's assisting him - but that would be a bit of a cop out.
From what I read in the Daily Mail (that oh-so-reliable source), the member of the public firing the gun will know which chamber the bullet is in, and Derren will be able to judge from the person's reaction whether or not he's about to die, in which case the gun will be fired the other way.
Knowing this, isn't it probable that he's just chosen members of the public who wouldn't have the guts to shoot him if he gets it wrong? I know I couldn't...
