Continuity announcers at Central are awful at leading into Central News. It isn't local news, it's regional. It's not my local Central Newsteam, it's Nottingham.

I thought all continuity was recorded?

Can I ask a daft question? What happens if there is a breakdown on ITV when the announcements are recorded. Is there a standard 'We apologise for the breakdown'?

Yes there is.

Alternatively, vary rarely the tx controller grabs the mike. That happened a couple of years back when a very Yorkshire voice (broad Leeds accent!) apologised for the breakdown...

im guessing andy marriot is probably going to come back to check on this thread, so i invite him, as the first central CA (the people who are more likely to know the answer) on here to maybe clear up 2 points:

- is central's continuity from birmingham or nottingham?
- are there any official moves towards bringing the central name back?

Hmmm, seeing as we have a few announcers here now, I wonder if any of you could tell us what you think of the current setup in Leeds (assuming that none of you work for Leeds that is!)? Can any of you see all ITV1 announcements coming from Leeds in the future, unleashing Maggie upon the rest of the UK? God help us all if it did happen. Should Granada fork out for individual announcers for each region (yes, even Border!) like Carlton do (I think)?

Please tell me exactly why Prisoner is a gift for mickey taking and please do it without quoting 'wobbly walls', 'attrocious acting' because this is only the case very rarely and not generally true of it like every half witted media journalist thinks. I really think Prisoner is the butt of too many undeserved jokes.

Andy Marriot works on Rutland Radio (Eastern Leicestershire) and is one of the Carlton 'booming voices' too!

Lincs FM listeners (which includes their 2 stations in Leicestershire and the others in the North of England plus LFM itself) may have heard him on Xmas Eve doing that 'Traditional Xmas' show. I heard him introducing Crossroads yesterday evening.

Wobbly walls? Atrocious acting? Hmm, sounds familiar....

(and Prisoner was just the same as it BTW, only Ozzie!)
