It happens occasionally a big name defects to another broadcaster. Which newscasters do you think the networks would not want to defect under any circumstances, who would be most missed ?

I think, and this is just my opinion :

BBC - Huw Edwards
ITV - Trevor McDonald (maybe Dermot)
Sky - Kay Burley
C5 - Charlie Stayt ?

Michael Buerk or Peter Sissons would be a big blow to the Beeb.

Sian Lloyd presenting the weather at 6.30 on the Six O Clock??

Jon Snow leaving C4 news for the BBC would be shocking too Smile

I think Buerk would be a huge blow to the BBC but I doubt he will do it now as he's coming to the final few years there. Huw Edwards would be a big blow too as I'm sure they are delighted with the way he has settled into the Six.

And the BBC would never have Sian Lloyd presenting their weather as she is not a Met Office forecaster whereas all the BBC forecasters and trained and employed by the Met Office not the BBC.

On a regional scale, I don't think the BBC would want to lose Sue Beardsmore as she's been on Midlands Today for over 15 years!

Also, I don't think Carlton would want to lose Bob Warman from Central News as he has been there for over 20 years anchoring the bulletins for ATV and Central. In fact he IS Central News! Very Happy

Like he said after a report on people's middle names (Its The Last Word where they go round a town and ask people silly questions): 'My middle name......Central!' Fantastic.

I don't think the BBC would want either Peter Levy or Paul Hudson to go. They are well known and it just wouldn't be the same without either one of them! Smile

The biggest shock defection so far of the year for me has to be Christa Ackroyd from Calendar to Look North. YTV were said to be stunned by the move, perhaps they could make a bid for Paul Hudson or Peter Levy !

I think Carlton are still reeling from losing Domic Heale from Central news to East Mids Today, I don't really like him on, it he's just too ITV, too centraol newsy.

Well, a definate shock defection would be Alastair Stewart from Carlton/LWT to the new BBC London Live!!! I don't think he'd ever go anyway, London Tonight wouldn't be the same!

I didn't want Mary Nightingale to go, I really liked her Smile then Natasha went too Sad now we have another one that seems to be settling in....
