who did broadcast Police 5? Did Central broadcast it? I thought it was just Thames and TVS?

I always remember LWT doing the show for London, not Thames. And ATV did also show it, I think they started it in the 1960s when they held the London weekend, and Midlands weekday franchises.

The You Tube link YOU provided gives the evidence that ATV and Central showed the programme Rolling Eyes

NO, where does my link PROVE Central broadcast the show.

Sorry it was 'sda's second You Tube link, (I thought you'd posted all three) but you've obviously not
been paying proper attention to the other contributions, you've got to keep 'um peeled Wink

Yes, and I remember watching it as well, because we could pick up Central where I grew up (though we officially watched Granada) and I got in the habit, for some reason, of watching Police 5 on Central because they showed it on Thursdays at 6.55, and I always watched it before Top of the Pops*. I remember watching the last one ever, which I think was the same time as the last TVS one, in December 1992.

* When I was younger I used to be very precise about how I watched Top of the Pops, I had to watch it on my own in my bedroom and I had to watch it sat right up close to the screen, and I also turned the telly on for it far too early so would usually watch most of North West Tonight before it. I do remember that on Thursdays at 6.55 they would sometimes do the draw for the Rugby League Challenge Cup after North West Tonight, which always baffled me because it was never billed in the Radio Times, presented by Harry Gration who I'd never seen (it was simulcast with BBC Leeds) and I don't think it even mentioned what sport it was so I was totally clueless, and I was always worried it was going to overrun into Top of the Pops. I think I might have switched to Police 5 one week to avoid it, and then stayed with it.

So it must have went out during Central news.

It might possibly have been part of LWT's Six O'Clock Show, (in which Thames News had a 15 minute slot),
at one stage, but I recall Police 5 being used as a filler, used at random times on Sunday afternoons ?

It was definitely a Sunday filler thing in London. It was always scheduled but never at a fixed time. It was never 5 minutes either

I think it might have appeared on Friday evenings too, but it would have been during the summer break of The Six O Clock Show alongside the Thames Weekend News bulletin (which went out as a stand alone programme).

It definitely wouldn't have been part of T6oCS

Just remembered: after Police 5, Shaw Taylor did the voice over for Crimestoppers, on both Thames and LWT

According to one of the obits I read about him, he was one of the directors of Crimestoppers
