The fantastic second series of Shameless ended tonight with another fantastic episode.

It's been an outstanding second series - with arguably the best ever scene in a drama with Steve's exit from the show.

It mixes drama and comedy fantastically and the ensemble cast are fantastic. The character of Carl has especially developed this year - and even "little Liam" has had a few lines. Debbie though is probably the character that holds the family together - and she is outstanding in every scene she's in.

No real surprise in the final episode - won't say too much in case people have taped it - and also great to see they managed to incorporate a bit of "Comic Relief" in tonight's main story.

The fantastic news is the series returns in early 2006 - probably from January again - so no news of another Christmas special.

And although at 10 episodes (plus Christmas) it's had a good run, why are UK series so short?

Great to see Shameless get some recognition at the RTS awards - rather than being pipped at the post once again.

Shameless won awards for Best Drama, Best Writer and an outstanding contribution award for creator Paul Abbott.

He also confirmed they are currently filming a Christmas special - so it looks like we'll have to wait about a week less till it returns.

Wonder if Steve and Fiona will be back?

The actress who plays Fiona hinted she may return in the new series, but wasn't aloowed to reveal anything, so it seems likely.
