I watched a program called TABOO on BBC TWO tonight, it was based on censorship and this edition was on sex. I'd like to know what everybody on the Forum thinks of Sex on TV, should it be shown on TV, should oral sex be included. I think the program had Mary Whitehouse on it who apparently died the other day according to someone on the forum!

Even in todays day and age sex on telly in Britain is still censored too much, compared to the liberal European countries. In Britain the following cannot be shown on television:
An erect penis
An open vagina
Close up sex scenes
An anus
I wont go on, but you get the idea. These censorship rules were made in the mid 20th century when public opinions and tolerance were a lot more stuffy in those days compared to today. I think that in the coming year or so these rules will be relaxed, and the BBFC will be able to be more flexible in what can be shown in films which are imported from such countries such as America.

This program was mentioning how the BBFC are already relaxing and by 2010 evrything will probably be legal. I have to say I like having sex on TV but I don't have a problem if it's censored or edited because the TV companies have to think of others. For reasons it should be shown are sex is a key thing in some people's life, paticulary the young and TV has to be based on real life and if people are doing it then it should be allowed to be showed after 9pm!
One of Vancouver's local terrestrial stations (ckvu13) airs a 'documentary-type' show called Sex TV. And oh man... lotsa nudity on it (more than what people would expect on terrestrial stations anyway). And it doesn't go on that late at night: it airs weekends at 11pm.
I, as the webmaster as TV Vancouver, have received quite a few emails complaining about Sex TV, each time with me having to reply to them saying that I have no connection with ckvu13, and telling them to actually write to the station instead. Gets annoying after a while...

Don't forget CTV's Saturday late night 'Sex Files'. Oh goodness, that was a shocking thing to see after the 11:30pm local news! I leave the room to get a glass of water thinking that the news was still on, when I come back, this couple was doing the horizontal polka! I thought the presenter and the sports guy were... well... I'll leave it at that.
As Jamez says, when you look at some of the (disgusting, immoral filth http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif
) stuff on the film stations from France, Spain, Holland, Sweden etc you realise how far we have to go. No-one is suggesting that we put stuff like that on at 4pm, but I really do think that if an adult wants to see hardcore pornography on a film channel he has paid for after midnight, and there are suitable safeguards to protect children, I really don't see what right the government, BBFC or anyone else has to stop him.

Interesting, because film 4 extreme had a film with Rocco Siffredi in it (or stiff n ready) in which he was as erect as erect could be and you could see him errrr 'plunging' - oh and there was a gratuitous beaver shot as the lead lady sat there 'flicking her bean' - I'll leave the rest to your imagination - surprisingly having watched it (for professional purposes) I've forgotten the title!
