Setanta Sports on Freeview Channel 34. Where has this come from then? Channel allocated tonight on Freeview. Does anyone know anything about this?

It's an encrypted channel showing a lot of Scottish, German and French footie, so is this the proper version or a modified FTA version?

Ah it's not

Its the home of the SPL.

It's a pay-per-view sport channel, mainly Scottish Football.

It did use space from ITV News, opting out of it's schedule - and as far as I'm aware it still uses ITV's space, so it'll mean Freeview viewers losing a block of ITV Kids programming or ITV4 for a couple of hours to make room for something they can't watch!

As if there isn't enough spare space already. That's all we want a precious space commodity allocated to a channel we can't see!

Setanta is an Irish based Channel, and has a range on channels on Sky showing various sports it had broadcasting rights for.

Only in Scotland! SMG apparently still control some of the ITV/C4 MUX and they allowed Setanta to show PPV games on the ITV News feed on some weekends.

I wish they would stop allocating spaces like this, Xtraview is a another waste of space.

ABC1 should be given 24hr broadcast instead if they are going to do something like this

Here's something amusing.

A few weeks ago, whilst flicking through the channels on ntl, I noticed I was picking up the live Setanta football match on ITV4 (channel 122), albeit minus the audio. And it's happening again today, with the old firm derby screening now on ITV4.

Obviously, ntl just show a DTT feed of ITV4, and as Setanta broadcast on a Sunday in ITV4 downtime, are picking up an unencrypted feed. A bit further up the EPG is 423, Setanta Sports which is encrypted and I cannot access as I am not a subscriber.

Bit of a balls up all round.
