Previous Setanta thread from January archived so here goes another one.

I apologise for sounding like an advert in this post, but I'm a bit impressed. Personally, having reviewed the content, Setanta 1 on DTT for £10.99 a month looks bloody good value.

Premiership, FA Cup, Conference and European football, Magners League rugby, live PGA golf and the recent Hatton fight - you don't half get a bang for your buck. Plus, as a baseball fan, I can watch live NASN2 content on Setanta 1 too (Setanta Sports 1 on Freeview is on midday-3am).

I have a strong Mux A signal and an ITV box. Tomorrow I shall be phoning them to sign up. Good idea? Anyone else got Setanta on DTT and are impressed?

Not since the channel stopped showing just SPL matches.

They have their own slot now.

Only thing is how much of that content is guaranteed to be on Setanta Sports 1 - it's inevitable at times due to scheduling clashes etc. content will be shown on channels only available on Sky, though of course with Setanta, it's not strictly to their advantage to use the channel to promote their full range of channels on Sky as it would be for Sky Sports.

Thing is, if you're aggressively marketing your channel to Freeview customers (as they seem to be doing on their website) then I'd say they're obligated to provide what they promise.

Oh dear....here we go.

FAQs: Can I receive Setanta on a ITV Digital box?
Answers: Website: Yes. Call centre operative: No.

Fired off a very very unhappy email. This is trading standards territory.

Before you get it, it's worth noting that it dynamically shares 7068kbps of bandwidth with Five US, Five Life and other TopUp TV Services, which generally results in low picture quality, especially on sports. I know many people on DS have complained that the picture is way too bocky. Sports channels really need the highest bitrate they can get to themselves, so don't expect anything fantastic out of it.

TBH i can ignore pic quality to a certain extent because a) i still use a CRD widescreen TV in the main room which doesnt show blocking up much if you use a soft enough picture setting (as opposed to the awful blocking I get on work's LCD screen), and b) (and this applies to all forms of TV) the actual content will hopefully outstrip any technical issues.

After my initial rage had faded, I found this via Setanta.com :

Setanta Offer at Aria

Worth considering.

Setanta forwarded my complaint to TUTV, who have phoned me back today and are looking into it.
