God I hope not.

In other news, I read yesterday that they're going to release an ALBUM featuring all of this tripe according to yesterday's Daily Mirror who did a feature on it ...

It's worrying about how much air-time these '88 888' are getting now. Whilst watching BBLB this afternoon, there was the usual Crazy Frog, followed immediately by Akon ringtone ads. These people know how to make their money, with Jamster claiming an apparent huge turnover recently, but this is becoming a growing trend which is driving me insane. God help us.

Ah yes but I learned something quite alarming about our dear Jamster.

Jamster is owned by European company Jamba!, who are a subsidary of Verisign Inc.
This also applies to the other trading names - TXT82228, 8181 and i'm thinking Ringtone King too, as they carry the same content.

Verisign are a very nasty piece of work. They own the largest internet registrar on the planet (Network Solutions) and frequently buy smaller registrars to create a growing monopoly. However, it's what they do with this power which is perhaps most shocking.

If they see a site has a large following, they may / have in the past simply 'accidently' re-sold the domain to a new (and bogus) customer, who then uses the site for advertising.

This is why I don't use Jamster or any of the Verisign companies (unless it's the Thwate security thing) because at the end of the day, it's like funding a form of e-terrorism.

Surely if you hate it so much rather than signing petitions and moaning on fora, just don't buy the ringtone, encourage others not to and cut the problem off at its source.

After all with no morons buying their ringtones Jamster is unlikely to survive!!
