In search of the worst idents EVER

How did you get these tapes, did you just ask ?

Ok here is the plan..

Phone up the companies main sales desk and straight way say

1) 'Hi there, I don't know whether you will be able to help me or not but basically I am doing a piece of coursework which involves the use of tv presentation, and what I need to look at are those logo type things you play at the start of every programme... Idents I think they are or something like that...'

2) -- Ok just hold on i'll put you through
3) Repeat what you said in 1
4) Respond to them plead if it is necessary.
5) Even if they say they cannot help, get an address to write to, YTV told me they could do nothing yet I wrote and they sent me a full tape
6) 'I presume you aren't going to charge me for them right?' ** Cue innocent voice
7) 'Umm.... no'
'Oh right, it's just because they are for school and I want to basically get as much material as I can'
9) 'blah blah blah'
10) Thank them and end the call, don't forget to give them your address.

You will be shocked to find out what companies will give out if only you ask!
Get the numbers from the ITV.org.uk website.

The bbc NEVER give anything away - I've certainly asked often enough!!

PS - where did this spell check button come from??

And repeat exactly what you have said to every company.
GMG stations do not link up so they wont know they are being conned
Border and Carlton are 100% likely to give away stuff.
Sky will if you ask nicely.
Granada will but it depends.
Phone them all up, if you get rejected them just move onto the next one.
After a days hard work I ended up with about 15 tapes being delivered to my door, it does work!

We pay for the BBC. We all have a stake in it, so shouldn't the Beeb be happy to give us, the people who fund this greedy, pompus corporation, something back in return???!!

I wonder if American networks would give idents away? Have you ever tried CNN chesh?

Try this for a really atrocious ident from a small station in the Greek islands.

The stations is ZEYS TV (pronounced 'zefs') broadcast from Syros, and all its presentation looks as though it was cobbled together on a PC in someone's bedroom!

Alek, CNBC (london office) did happily give away some of its presentation, but I have never tried CNN no.
It is worth a try though.

As for Carlton they probably have so much money that they couldn't care less whether or not they give them away.
Border on the other hand are no so fortunate...

Actually I would strongly disagree.
I love that HTV ident and the music that goes with it.
I have many happy memories of the HTV idents from being a child and holidaying in Wales, do not knock HTV idents.

I'm serious.
