ITV for North Scotland this is Grampian'

Any such announcement would be very short lived. Remember in summer 2002 when people on ex-Carlton stations started getting announcements like 'You're watching HTV, ITV1 in Wales' and 'This is Carlton, ITV1 for the South West'. A few short months later and suddenly those station brands were all but gone. I would mark it as a worrying development if an SMG station started namechecking ITV alongside their own name.

Shame on Grampian for using that awful ident for a decade.I remember the STV one very briefly they ditched it very quickly although i must admit i liked them when they first came out .

It must be remembered however that Grampian didn't have ident-centred presentation then. They were IVC-driven and so most links were done with no ident at all. That generic ident may have been used for almost a decade but how often was it used? At 9:25 and before the news (and even that only latterly - they had a station clock for that purpose at one time), rarely outside of that.

Idents aren't terribly important to a station which uses IVC as their primary means of continuity, and it is possible to keep on using the same thing for years and years without it becoming dated.

I seem to remember Grampian using "ITV" in a few of their invision announcements and also over the ITV 89 ident into the news .Of course that was before the SMG takeover Very Happy If they did that now the powers at SMG would be furious .I used to get a not bad pic of Grampian here in Edinburgh .

And what I meant on point number 1 is there is a female announcer on Scottish TV who talks like she is depressed. But there is another announcer called Jim (forgot his surname) which is quite good.

Sounds like Jim Symon, who's been there since the 1980s. There's another more authoratative guy - anyone know his name? The female announcer is Kate Fraser (I think), ex-Grampian.

The other guy could be freelancer Colin McIntyre (Ex BBC), one of the best announcers in Scotland.
Kate was early shift today, and tonight it is Maggie.

Also the now, next and later slide at the end has a sort of interference on it - is it just Grampian?

It is still appearing tonight on analogue, but not on Freeview.

At times Colin can be a bit high pitched and cheesy i wouldn't say he is "one of the best announcers in Scotland" .Tony Currie has a much better voice than him .

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Scottish (and I presume Grampian) have new now, next, later slides that look identical to the previous ITV1 ones, but with Scottish at the bottom right corner and a local announcement. I think they clocked the fact that leaving the credits sequence to most ITV programmes on in full screen would be highly tedious, seeing as they are designed to be shunted all over the screen down south.

It has been said, but not in this thread. I think you are exactly right - the endboards for credits are far too dull on their own, and frankly dull credits are dead space for a commercial broadcaster.

I think they look great - especially having the station branding on them. This is exactly what smg should be doing.
