On a different note...

Did anyone notice the lack of Scottish TV endboard at the end of Taggart and instead being replaced with "SMG TV Productions?"

Whats that all about?

When they had the Thistle idents the endcap of Taggart was Scottish Television enterprises .

More recently the show that was on last year about the Holiday Reps on ITV 1 the endcap was also SMG TV productions .

This has been the case in the last year - an SMG Productions endcap appears whenever a programme is shown on the whole ITV network, like 'Taggart' or 'Wheel of Fortune' but for regional programmes, a Scottish Television Production endcap is used.

However, I'm not sure which endcap is used in the case of High Road, which to my knowledge is only shown on Scottish, Grampian and UTV (plus Border and Central?)

SMG TV is the network arm of Scottish & Grampian TV. I think this is a move by SMG to "Carltonise" their name so that the UK can see the SMG name. However as Take the High Road isn't produced for the network, I doubt it will carry the SMG TV tag.

However Ginger productions which also fall under SMG TV use their own endcap - it was recently reviewed and Chris Evan's glasses no longer exist.

Surely GINGER can't be a stronger brand than Scottish / Grampian Tv !!!!

I would imagine 0925 Monday morning, when Scottish/Grampian take over continuity again.
The 0559 ident into GMTV will be your last SMG ident, then -- if ITV-1 and ITV-1 Wales are anything to go by -- you'll have the trail for the new presentation [the one that's already been shown in Scotland], ending up with "Scottish TV" and "Grampian TV" on-screen.

No doubt the CA will have something witty to say about it, into Trisha next. They will be recorded though won't they, because there will be a need to mention the individual station name? Unless they don't bother at all Rolling Eyes That would be a poor show indeed. "Good morning, and welcome to a brand new look for this channel.."

And from then on you'll have the misfortune to suffer the ITV-1 celebrities every junction, with a few of your own thrown in -- randomly, or only before regional programmes?

Or do as you do now, and avoid the channel.

I doubt very much if the start up on STV will be pre recorded on Mon morning .

Grampian will probably be though - SMG announcers always tend to use the station names when they take over from GMTV at 9.25 .

There is a live announcer there from 9am until roundabout midnight they normally swop over round about 4pm .

The only stuff they prerecord these days is through the night after the Hogmany Live show from Edinburgh the other night the first link was very bland into the next show with NO happy newyear from all of us here at STV etc !!! which was very poor indeed when continuity is LIVE the announcer will tend follow on with the correct tone of mood when such celebrations are going on around themselves .

Also if Grampian have a diffrent programme on from STV they prerecord the Grampian link or sometimes they prerecord Grampian to brand the station name .

A classic example of this was round about three weeks ago on primetime at 7pm the Grampian link that went into Emmerdale was "Good morning this Grampian TV and before Trisha a look ahead to tonight " .Bad case of finger trouble there i think !!!.

Ocassionaly to you'll get an STV ident on Grampian not so much vice versa although i have seen one Grampian ident on STV - and also you get "This is Scottish TV on Grampian " sometimes - never the other way round though - although i think it was Thurs night round 11.30 SMG had a breakdown and the announcer filled on both stations live which was most impressive however she took well over 30 secs to come on the ident was on screen frozen .

It's not the TC's fault or the announcers for the errors it's the pressures put on the individulas by SMG to do centralised continuity same story as Leeds realy .

I wonder if they will change the style of the promos too .
I would have thought they would if the blue box logo is to go perhaps they will just have the newer logo at the bottom of the screen and get away from the promo on the blue background effect.

Stephen Jardine has just announced on Seven Days they will be back next week with a NEW set .

I suppose the titles will change too as they are similar in look to the current Scotland Today .

They came live today from the First Minister's residence in Edinburgh.

I wonder what the through the night presentation on STV & Grampian will be like. Under the boxed look there was no station name in the square - with "night-time" being the brand.

That sounds plausible or perhaps just the empty 2-blue box centred -- here, if you imagine there being no "Grampian tv" in it.

IMO, the other non-celebrity presentation on the rest of the ITV-1 network are criminally under-used, though perhaps in coming months when the celebrity idenst become [even more] tired, these will come in more and more. There are various ones for the day-time, and the darker versions can be used for overnights -- it's just disappointing UTV and ITV-1 Wales take from London overnight, but these dark ones could be used from, like 2230 onwards ~
