More today ... Possible TV deal for Rangers matches in SFL3 on the cards ....
It has been mentioned many many times before that Celtic and Rangers would one day possibly apply to join the Engilsh Leagues where the real money is. Could Rangers have taken this opportunity to jump over the border?
Not passing judgement or opinion, just wondering.
Considering their situation, I think they'd have been forced to join the Evo-Stik League - which is division seven!

But yet the English leagues don't want Rangers or Celtic for that matter, so that's a non starter to begin with...

Is that true? (Not disbelieving you Gaz...I just have never heard that angle before)
It has been a radio5 discussion topic more than once. I bet that Sky would love it. The Old Firm games would always be special, although the two big teams of Scottish football pitched regularly up against the heavyweights of the English league would surely appeal to those that pay for TV rights.
Again, I am not stating a personal opinion on whether this should happen.
The problem with Celtic and/or Rangers in English football, is where do you put them. A number of Scots have the bizarre idea that they are Premiership (English) standard. This has not been tested over much more than the odd Champions League and Europa League fixture. Logically to prevent disputes among current English sides, two of which you would need to displace, they'd both need to be placed initially no higher than League One and take their chances at that level. A few 'experts' seem to think that both sides are no better than top half of the Championship / Premiership relegation material at best.
Logically they're best being at the top in Scotland, rather than stuck in the second tier in a combined GB League structure.
Interestingly, I just read that the English Premier League teams get TV payments of around £38.5 million a year more each than their Scottish equivalents. That is one hell of a disparity. English teams that are relegated get more in parachute payments.
Crazy.
Is this the first deal then for live Scottish Football League coverage. I'm surprised really the SFL didn't push to get some coverage of Division 1 & 2 thrown in too.
