Scotland Today's lead story tonight was from Aberdeen and the Grampian TV region an attempted murder .Now what has that got to do with us here in the STV region and in central Scotland? nothing .
Surely they could have came up with something from their own region i have noticed that STV do pinch some Grampian stories (IE) A light plane crash in Dundee last Friday night things at SMG must be getting worse with their cutbacks .

Grampian are always taking stories from your region aswell.

I dunno how it would work but where I am I can get both stations and it's a little wierd if you flip and back and forth from the programmes. Everytime I do it the news story is either a local one or a main in general scottish story which looks as if it's playing out at the same time. I'd presume this is working like the BBC's Regional Opt-outs they have in England, which is why the report is playing out at exactly the same time but with different astons for the region.

Although it is television for central Scotland, is it not supposed to cover stories from all of Scotland when it can? In the Border region we get stories from central Scotland aswell, which are broadcast to IOM and Cumbria, what relevance does it have to these areas that are not in Scotland.

I think the stories Grampian "nick" from STV are generally the one reflecting issues in Edinburgh (Scottish Parliment etc.) not the general news from the STV region!

I have noticed that STV take alot of Grampians pictures but mainly find they replace the reporter with an STV one (voice over prob....) what is the Grampian reporter not good enough for the South of Scotland then?

I believe that's always been standard ITV company practice when giving stories/packages to one another - even since consolodation.

I know that neighbouring ITV companies have an unofficial agreement to give one another stuff - "we give them what they want and in return they give us what we want" kind of arrangement.
