Didn't get that far. Too busy giggling at the 3 single 1's.
Back on thread.
Those graphics were pretty good for what Wire could afford - be interested to see how provided OB coverage (although point off for the lighting on the board which was dreadful with shadows all over the place) for them, and if the capgen came with the OBU.

RUGGER
A couple of things about rugby scorebars, mostly from BBC TV, who seemed to use them before other broadcasters. As usual, if you spot an earlier example anywhere, post it here.
The last England match without a scoreboard graphic was probably this one in November 1993 – broadcast live on the BBC, and only four days after their very first live scorebar in football, Norwich v Inter Milan. Their rugby coverage didn't follow suit, apart from displaying the clock in the last few minutes.
England v New Zealand, 27.11.1993
BBC did have scorebars by the time of the Five Nations 1994. Same graphics as football, but with team names abbreviated. And the score was even displayed on highlights, long before Match of the Day did it. Highlights were a necessity, as two games always took place simultaneously – so, BBC showed one match live and the other afterwards.
France v Ireland highlights, 15.01.1994 / Ireland v Wales live, 05.02.1994
As for ITV, their 1995 World Cup games had similar graphics to the football:
England v Italy, 31.05.1995 / South Africa v New Zealand, 24.06.1995
Later in the decade, rugby coverage on S4C featured an unusual text-free score graphic, as MY83 mentioned earlier.

TENNIS
Since it's Wimbledon season, let's start there.
2017:
It was 1999 when the BBC added a Wimbledon scorebar while a point was in progress. Gill Sans and small, but very low:
That lasted until 2001, when they decided the screen wasn't green enough:
Wimbledon '99 wasn't the BBC's first tennis scorebar – they had covered the GB versus USA Davis Cup tie that April, with some fanfare, and used a primitive scorebar that might've been provided by someone else.
The first elsewhere might have been in Germany, as it seems the ARD and ZDF led the way in their tennis coverage, at the ATP Masters in 1996 and WTA Berlin in 1997.
The first Grand Slam to use them, it appears, was Roland Garros 1998.
Has any sport ever turned off the score when the ball was in play? It would make some cricket games easier to watch.

Score bar seems to vanished on BBC One. How did we ever cope without it?
Just looking at twitter and more people are complaining the BBC lost their score graphics for 2 games than EastEnders being moved to BBC Two. What did people do prior to the early 1990s when scorebars were added to sports coverage in the UK.
I remember Wimbledon in the 90s when the only on-screen score was when they flashed up the results for that particular game (i.e. 15/30) after each point. I'm sure it was only around 2000 when it got a permanent score card on screen.
In the 90s the score graphic was only keyed over the court wide shot camera, and disappeared on the cuts to close-ups.

The current ICC Cricket graphics are as ugly as hell. The single strap ones that often appear on Sky as I presume they're doing them are much better and nicer.

The current ESPN NFL package does, oddly enough. It's a particularly giant scorebar in that case. ESPN use a different and far less obtrusive package for college football that doesn't do the same though.

Interesting that both of those games have players that are in the finals this year, after all this time!

^ At 3:22 mins in the above video.
It does look very familiar, and similar to a couple of ITV's - I can post those as soon as I get time.
