Eyes Down IMO was OK, but it didn't live up to they hype it has been given on Trailers and in TV Magazines to be honest, I think one of the problems was that they put on the scouse accents, as Sheridan Smith isn't a scouser (If you have seen The Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of crisps) and so is the janitor guy (Ray Von out of Phoenix Nights) I have to say there were some funny one liners, but that old woman's foot was disgusting to look at. One of the problems was that Paul O Grady wasn't even that funny in it, really I don't like to say this but Paul O Grady should not be in a sitcom, he should carry on with stand up and normal TV presenting.

I didn't think much of My Hero either, what with the same gag of the talking baby cropping up every 5 mins. Why is making a really funny mainstream sitcom so hard these days, no wonder they constantly repeat The Vicar of Dibley!

To be honest I would much rather see a repeat of The Vicar of Dibley or Only Fools and Horses, but they already do that. But I preferred it a few weeks ago when they showed the Jasper Carrott stand up, though that was a repeat from a few years ago, I couldn't stop laughing, now I wouldn't mind seeing stuff like that a bit more often. (As I am not a fan of Will and Grace and Scrubs, and I have seen Friends Series 8 and it is not the best)

But does anyone know when the excellent My Family will be returning to BBC One? Whether be it new or old it is really funny, I am so glad that UK Gold is repeating it, possibly one of only few domestic British sitcoms which is funny.

Yep, whilst it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting it to be - 'Eyes Down' struck me as a Dinnerladies copy throughout (which ironically is currently going out in the 10 o'clock slot on BBC2).

Having attended the recording of Ep 6 of Eyes Down, I reckon it may get a bit better - problem with anything new is they have to try and introduce every character, every foible, within the first five minutes, as shows just don't get the chance to grow and build these days - either they score a hit or they're out, unfortunately.

Not the best situation - just remember this nearly happened to both The Good Life and Only Fools.

Perhaps Paul O'Grady IS a bit Lily-ish in this, but with the best will in the world, a gay man known for being bitchy, either as himself or as Lily, isn't gonna get offered anything THAT different...

...and before I get flamed by every queeny type in here, just remember I'm one too... Laughing Wink

I'm wondering if the new season of programmes will see these new ITV1 celeb idents aired ? The Simon Cowell one certainly ought to be going out right now, and that Gerri Halliwell one should be confined to the dustbin.

She hasn't appeared on the channel for 8 months, so god knows how she can be classed as an ITV celeb. Rolling Eyes

I remember Foyle's War, starring Michael Kitchen, from last Autumn. I thought it were pretty good like. Any plans for another series?

The regional slot @ 14:30 has been axed as of 08/09/2003 and with it goes Shortland Street Sad Mad Sad

Carlton have said the network will screen it but I would not bet on it.

Well it generally will be as that list only covered Mon 1st to Thur 4th. Pop Idol has already started on Saturdays, and the post 9pm slots on those weekdays contain various new dramas and stuff.

Some more new season stuff from ITV1, which is much more well balanced than that thread that made out all ITV1 were offering was a new series of YBF!

Design Olympics (Working Title)

The Pitts (American Comedy in early Saturday slot)

When Hitler Invaded (who ever said ITV1 don't do serious documentaries)

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest

A Touch of Frost

Poirot

Frank Skinner Show

Harry Hill's TV Burp

Footballer's Wives

I suggest you all download "Next Then Later" from ITV1's Business to Business website, it's a 24 page newsletter which also goes into detail about ITV2's new look!
