As I understand it, "I Want that House" performs quite well for ITV1 at 5:30pm. I notice also there is a new "I Want that....." series in the offing. This time holidays, see link below

I want that Holiday??? My god, the word Holiday will sound strange in the theme tune. Singing 'I want that Holiday' does not sound or flow as well as 'I want that house'.

Talking of Corrie Repeats, Grampian TV Is the only Region to show it at 2:30 on the afternoon (Only Cos Scottish TV has Scotland Today). I remember Granada/Tyne/YTV/Border at one time showed 3 episodes on a Fri afternoon from 1:30 - 3.00pm. That was quite good.

Maybe they will have a different theme tune for "I want that Holiday" Wink

At one time all the ITV regions showed Corrie and Emmerdale repeats at lunchtime - I think it was around 1994/1995 and they had Emmerdale Tues/Thurs and Corrie Mon/Wed/Fri. I think only the GMG regions kept this going when the networked dropped the lunchtime repeats although I think the United Media regions (HTV, Anglia etc) had Corrie repeats at 5am at one point

I seem to remember that Granada put alot effort into the lunchtime repeats, though from what I remember many people got confused, as they thought that a new episode was going out at 1.00pm. Though by the time they had the 4th episode of Corrie in a week Granada changed their plan with this and they showed Wednesday's and Friday's episodes on a sunday afternoon, then show Sunday's and Monday's episodes at 1pm on a Friday, this was then followed by something boring, as this was post Afternoon Live and they didn't have a fixed daytime schedule everyday by this time. But by about 1999, Granada ditched the sunday omnibus they repeated them at 2.10pm most days, but this had gone by about 2001 or 2002, when the ITV2 repeats were becoming more popular.

But I do remember in 1997 when alot of people went mad over the decision to put Emmerdale repeats on at 11.40pm, though from what I recall this didn't last very long. Plus I don't know if every region did this.

GMG Regions never had the 5am repeat, maybe LWT being the only exception, but I have a bit of Nightscreen somewhere on tape where it says that Corrie is on at 5am on Scottish and Grampian, plus I seem to recall that Carlton did this too, not sure if they did it on Central.

I think it would be a good idea to have Corrie and Emmerdale repeats during the day - not everyone has ITV2

Maybe if the 2-3pm slot isnt working they should consider giving those slots to the regions to do their own things like they used to.

It seems the daytime regional slot is coming back next year. I've noticed this on yorkshiretv.com

Gaynor Barnes and Nicola Crompton are returning with a new 15-episode series of Girl Talk next year.

The programme will run Monday to Friday at 2.30pm from January 26 to February 13, 2004.

The programme will retain it's mix of real-life stories and celebrity interviews, as well as fashion items and good old gossip. Interviews already recorded for the new series include chats with Craig David, Rachel Hunter and Christine Hamilton.

Well HTV Wales are actually opting out of the 2.30pm slot the week after next to show local progs.

I hope if the regional slot does come back in 2004, that Carlton-Central and HTV show Shortland Street again as I really like that series.

Well, as it's a regional slot Shortland Street should only be on ITV1 New Zealand.

Re: the soaps. I think it's the best short term solution, but even the repeats on ITV2 need sorting out - especially Corrie, which is usually an episode behind. I think they should extend the slot to 90 minutes to also include a repeat of The Bill:

5.30pm Emmerdale
then at 6pm:
Monday: Corrie (Fri/Sun)
Tues: Corrie (Mon)
Wed: The Bill (Thu)
Thu: The Bill (Wed)
Fri: Corrie (Wed)

A similar schedule would exist for 9.25am-10.55am and early afternoon.

Yes but you know what Carlton are like, they struggle to find suitable progs for regional slots during daytime. I would be happy if SS came back 2 or 3 days, anything is better than what we have now - nothing!!!!

Could have SS Mon/Tue/Wed and then local progs on Thurs/Fri which would be Guiness in the Garden/Heart of the Country for Carlton-Central and Prized Possessions etc for HTV.

Not true Shortland Street has been shown for 10 years in the Central region and as such is sort of an adopted regional programme for the Midlands and gets higher ratings than the actual regionally produced programmes. This is how it has always been on Central.

Shortland Street should be back 4 days a week or even 5 on Central as it gets more viewers than locally produced programmes and more than the network programme in that slot.

Oh go away, you only come sniffing around this forum when somebody mentions Shortland Street. Fact is, regional programming slots have become few and far between on ITV1 these days, when a regional slot becomes available, the least the companies can do is put out original regional programming.

Not some crappy New Zealand soap.

Do you have to sit through Guiness in the Garden, I think not, Central make crap regional daytime programming, Shortland Street is very entertaining, has an estalished viewer base in the region and gets more viewers than the regionally made programmes.

Square Eyes, I dont want to fall out with you, but I agree with Shortland Street - the show is much more suitable for Central and HTV than crappy regional progs. HTV make good regional progs in the evening but the daytime ones like gardening and antiques are boring and generally quite crap. I think we could compromise and say have SS 3 days a week and 2 days of regional progs - that would keep everyone happy, 3 days of SS would'nt be perfect but much better than nothing.

Anyway you live in the ITV1 Yorkshire region dont you, I really doubt they will ever have SS back in that region

GET YOUR APRONS ON COZ JAMES MARTIN WILL BE HITTING YOUR SCREENS ON DECEMBER 1ST AT 2.30PM ON ITV1 WITH A BRAND NEW FOOD CHALLENGE SHOW

OUT OF THE FRYING PAN… is a new regional challenge show with only the best ingredients! Rivalry, competition, skill and flair, mixed with more than a little trepidation. All will be on display as 27 contestants from in and around the Midlands take on the challenge of cooking a dish for James Martin and a judge in 20 minutes. All will pit their culinary talent against each other whilst under the ever-watchful eye of the studio cameras.

They also won’t be alone for support, because we’ll be linking to their home supporters at their place of work with presenter Robert Smith. They'll all be glued to that small television screen behind the counter cheering on or groaning as they watch their contestant perform 'live' on television.

So what does the winner get?

Well, waiting at the other end is none other than Restaurateur and Michelin starred chef Raymond Blanc. Our victorious winner will have exclusive training in the kitchens of Le Petit Blanc and learn from the master himself. You'll be able to see what happens in the final programme on November 28th when Out of the Frying Pan... follows the winner in the kitchens with Raymond.

Tune in for Show 1 on Monday the 1st of December when James and Robert will be surprising contestants around the Midlands and letting them know they are competing in the series.

From Tuesday the cooking competition begins in studio. See who has got what it takes to work with Raymond Blanc!

BOOKMARK THIS SITE BECAUSE YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD JAMES MARTIN RECIPES FROM THE SHOWS AND WHO KNOWS, YOU MIGHT BE CLOSER TO BECOMING THAT TOP CHEF YOURSELF!
