Saturday TV's has been **** for the best part of 10 years, well Crime Traveller in 1997 now get Dr.Who for 13 weeks a year but in hasn't been top notch stuff since the day of Noel's House Party
BR
It is crap - the epic films of Saturday and Sundays have gone and been replaced with US imports (usually detective shows) that no channel considers worthy of a primetime slot.
And let's not even get started on Saturday nights. The BBC now seem to have just two Saturday night shows a year - Doctor Who and Strictly Come Dancing.
ITV do have some gems in their Saturday night schedules - but it seems rather than risking another Celebrity Wrestling style flop they've just given up for the summer.

It's all thanks to LWT and Noel Edmonds that have now stopped their bit in Saturday telly. Have you realised that since LWT ceased, no saturday night programmes were shown again, like Gladiators or Blind Date.
House Party is just better than BBC1 now, that's all I can say.

IT
This years summer reality TV from ITV:
Soccer Idol (or something of a similar name)
Poker Face
Celebrity Love Island (You'd think they would have learnt from last year but oh no they extend it to 12 weeks this time!)
The X Factor
Now 1 out of them shows aren't too bad and Poker Face dosen't sound all that bad. But maybe 2006 would be the right time to try and repeat Simply the Best which was shown in 2004. With Saturday Night TV at an all time low, a 90's-esque show could give a classic feel to the evening instead of countless reality shows.
Blind Date was shown again but under a different name of Love on a Saturday Night fronted by Davina McCall but was dropped after 2 series'.

,it wasn't a bad idea, but it was far too long, plus the scheduling didn't go in it's favour, especially with the Final being aired at 3.30pm one Saturday.
Saturday afternoon on ITV has been crap for the past 20 years since they got rid of World Of Sport, most ITV stations didn't want it, they'd rather show something cheap and save the money for the better Sports rights, which they're still doing today. But when WoS was axed in 1985, they kept some apsects of it going, such as On The Ball, which became Saint & Greavsie , then back to On The Ball, the Results Service, and the ITV7 became Channel 4 Racing, but all of these are now non existant from Saturday afternoon TV.
ITV's best bet was showing Coronation Street repeat, probably the most entertaining compared to a crappy 3 hour Western, which was usually the case for most of the 1990's.

I loved Simply the Best. That was great.

9.10 Casualty
10.00 Strictly Dance Fever

Saturday Night TV has gone downhill since shows such as Noel's House Party and Gladiators
(...Which I thought was good show for ITV's standards and peaked with about 11 million viewers..)
had ended. It's now just used as a battle to win the viewers.
It's just celebs with ITV. They never learn...Celeb X Factor, Celebrity Love Island, etc. And lets not forget Celebrity Wrestling. A complete flop, and slaughtered against Doctor Who. ITV's only best show on a Saturday was Harry Hill's TV Burp, but unfortunally ended for this series.
When was the last time that I actually sat down in the evening, turn on the TV and enjoy something on a Saturday Night?
Doctor Who - Which was in March, of last year, and returning to our screens next week.
Saturday Night has turned as rubbish, and never be like it used to.
