If SMTV would have axed Stephen and added Micheal and Leah then it could have carried on for at least a couple more months.

WHAT?!! Stephen was one of the best Saturday morning presenters since Ant, Dec and Cat! Pairing him with Holly on SMTV would have set the ratings on fire again - I really do think they could have got it back on top by a mile

If you must have Stephen then Des,Stephen,Micheal and Leah but 4 presenters is too many.See,it's impossible!Unless they did Des and Stephen for half then Micheal and Leah for the other half or something like that.

Or maybe just have Holly & Stephen....

These magazine shows ARE genre based! Soccer AM/Cricket AM - sport, Sunday AM/GMTV/Breakfast - current affairs, Saturday Kitchen - cookery!
You know what you're getting, it's not vague. You're not going to tune into Saturday Kitchen if you hate cooking!
GENERAL magazine programmes are the problem - take CBBC's Xchange - yes a kids programme, but so vague - a bit of music here, sport there, some kid with a weird hobby - it's a pointless watch!

So what about Soccer AM/Cricket AM - both magazine shows in their own right and very successful - SoccerAM now over 10 years old!!!! Other Magazine formats also include the teatime chat shows, Sunday AM (a mix of politics, current affairs, papers and entertainment), as well as GMTV (as a whole mix), BBC Breakfast. There are many more examples I could use that are wholly magazine based and not just based on one genre.

Why are they a pointless watch?
What is wtrong in sitting through something you don't normally like and then having your ideals questioned and think about it again?
Why is it that BP is one of the biggest rated programmes for any children's channel ?
This morning is still hugely popular, but people could easily go away and watch certain stranded programmes on other channels, if they wanted.
General magazines are still big, no matter what, and they will continue to be so, just as long as you have the right presenters, the right mix of articles and most of all the right production values.
If you insist that most magazines are based on a single genre, then in that case so are general magazines as they are based upon modern popular culture (hence single genre magazine). In this scenarion you have no argument.
