Nice to see Dancing on Ice doing well. Pokerface isnt doing so well this time then.

Sunday's should definitely be soap free on ITV1. Maybe a quiz or a comedy show, or even a family comedy drama might work in the 7pm slot. Just something that's different. ITV's schedule is in dire need of a makeover. I think they may have got it right with Saturday nights, but the rest of the week needs a lot of work.

Unfortunately I cant see them cutting down on the soaps anytime soon.

No. At least one night a week remains soap free - and many agree it's the best night of ITV's schedule at the moment!

I think soaps should be restricted to Mon-Fri, and be something like:

Monday
7:00pm- Corrie
7:30pm- Emmerdale

Tuesday
7:00pm- Corrie
7:30pm- The BIll (cut down to half an hour)

Wednesday
7:00pm- Corrie
7:30pm- Emmerdale

Thursday
7:00pm- Corrie
7:30pm- The BIll (cut down to half an hour)

Friday
7:00pm- Corrie
7:30pm- Emmerdale

So really, its just Corrie on everyday (there will be no increase or decrease in numbers of episodes) with Emmerdale and The Bill (but only half an hour long) alternating each day. It could also be branded as "soap hour" so people who hate soaps can avoid it. Another alternative would be to have it from 8-9, and The Bill/Emmerdale at 8, giving a good lead in to Corrie which gives a good lead in to the 9 O'Clock drama/film ... This way it would be more structured and less cluttered and full of soaps like it currently is, and could make more air time for the new comedies ITV want to try out.

But it will probably never happen.

It won't happen because of Tuesday's in which ITV have to show The Chapmions League!!! Plus the "regular" time of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will never be swapped.

So......

Monday and Friday
1900 Emmerdale
1930 Coronation Street

Tuesday and Thursday
1900 Emmerdale

Wednesday
1930 Coronation Street
2000 The Bill (until 9pm)

Coronation Street should definitely lose two episodes, and Emmerdale should lose three. The Bill should also go back to once a week.

How exactly does a discussion about soaps fit into this thread, considering Saturdays are the only day when soaps aren't on?!

I should think so as well! Soaps on Saturdays too would be even more ridiculous than it already is.

Disagree about Corrie being on 5 nights - thats worse than it it now! At least the episodes are spread out during the week.

Also Corrie at 7 and Emmerdale at 7.30 will never happen.
