True, the later series were pants sadly and the house begun to lose its mock authenticity when they took to a more studio format. It had run its course....and so did Noel Edmonds.
1. Man-O-Man (ITV 1996, 1998, 1999)
Based on the hugely popular 90s European format, 10 blokes, the all-bird audience rates hot or not, then the losers get pushed - fully clothed - into a swimming pool. I think it needs a revamp by someone like Yvon Grace, the cheap-n-tacky direction she took Crossroads in would work superbly on a show like Man-O-Man. Alternatively bring in Chris Evans to produce. However, Tarrant would need dumping, to be replaced by a randy, up fer it female. I could see Cat Deeley or Sara Cox hosting. Trust me, if ITV bought this back and took it in a totally so-bad-it's-fcuking-good direction they'd rake it in.
2. DON'T FORGET YOUR TOOTHBRUSH!
THIS WAS QUALITY TELLY! Like the House Party but more wacky. SUPERB telly! Throwing stuff out windows! Deep fat frying shoes! Sending random people on holiday! BRING IT BACK DAMNIT!
Only 8 or 9 years ago, you could look at Saturday night television schedules and think "Tonight, I'm going to watch this, this this this and this!" and put your feet up.
Nowadays, it's hard to find a run of programmes to watch like that. It's just sinlge programmes I watch on Saturdays now, such as Dr Who.
Come on - imagine - Beadles About, followed by You Bet!, followed by Noel's House Party, followed by a guick 15 minute Lottery, followed by Casualty, followed by a decent murder mystery/drama etc = good Saturday!
I think both the BBC & ITV over did Saturday night during the 1990's. Both House Party & Blind Date were dying a death and Jim Davidson was killing The Generation Game. Why must networks get one good idea and keeping on milking it. Saturday night's need personality, people like Noel & Cilla would bring in the audiences if they had decent new programmes. Look what Strictly Come Dancing did for Brucie!
I am also for revamped classics as long as they work, look how different Doctor Who is.
Channel 4 also don't help with their mindless three hours of The Top 100 This and that and wall to wall Big Brother.

Strictly Come dancing is a revamp of a programme that has run on and off for 50 years.

Strictly Come Dancing is a different programme to the stuffy old Come Dancing that the BBC used to show late at night. And although Doctor Who has its roots in the past the new series is worlds apart from the original series.

It may have a new format and have an extra word in the title which renders it grammatically incoherent, but its ballroom dancing isn't it? The BBC could have gone for a completely new name but they didn't, so I believe the current show should be seen as a continuation of Come Dancing.
Well Strictly Come Dancing with Bruce Forsyth at the helm is a must for Saturday nights. Does anyone have any firm news about its return> Strictly Dance Fever was an appalling waste of time and Graham Norton. I'm backing Brucie to keep us watching!
