Yes. The One Show presenter Chris Evans has very high standards.
He is known as a perfectionist, especially back in the Big Breakfast/Toothbrush days. Toothbrush was a long time getting to air, it's launch was postponed several times because it wasn't right

William G Stewart was brought on board to make 'Toothbrush' right.

That's a nice story but it doesn't change the fact he has said "yes" to some s***. He said yes to Famous & Fearless and, while he didn't present them, he did gave us such tv gems as Boys & Girls and Live With Chris Moyles. So to suggest The One Show presenter Chris Evans would think Red Or Black was beneath him but Famous & Fearless is a winner.....it's a bit odd is all I was saying. Also, does anyone
really
actually believe if Chris had been offered Red Or Black he wouldn't have took it?

But they were all examples from about 10 years after the period I was talking about... the ones where everything he touched turned to TV and radio gold. Then his career collapsed and he was sitting on a load of cash. When he returned he didn't have the same drive and that showed through the lack of success (although Terry and Gaby was good).

If it had been at the height of his career and he was in charge (as he was with everything he did back then) he would have made it work a lot better than it did. He probably would have taken it if he was offered and didn't have the other regular gigs

After watching this week's edition, a couple of days later. I think it was still a good show, although there were a lot more Pre recorded elements. If they cannot have little ant & dec in the studio live, why do they need them in the studio at all. They could always introduce the piece, and have their next mission given to them as part of the VT?
The lack of Ant vs Dec was a strange item to skip as the idea was that it would be a weekly item, unless there were time restraints.
The use of the philamonic orchestra throughout worked well in my opinion. The finale was very well rehearsed, but I'm guessing at least Dec had a bit of piano playing experience.
The funniest part by far was the undercover on Jeremy Kyle.
There wasn't as much of a buzz from this week. I still can't warm to the new Little Ant and Dec. Whether this is because of their age or because I find Little Ant to be as cute as piles, I can't enjoy their segments. The old Little Ant and Dec were given proper questions to ask in the style of a proper interview. The new ones just sort of, well... do silly things.
As much as I don't want to say it, the new series seems a little over-rehearsed. The original series' seemed more on-the-fly and not as scripted. I'm guessing this is from watching their exchanges on I'm A Celeb. Having said that, I thought the closing segment was really good. Old fashioned, but good. It seems to be cementing Ant and Dec as a 'double act' rather than a 'presenting duo'.

I noticed that the first week's programme was 1hr 20mins, whereas this week is was only 1hr 15mins.
Personally I quite like the 'end of the show' show. It did remind me a bit of Morecambe & Wise, particularly the first week with the sketches with Robbie Williams. I wasn't so keen on the Vegas game which didn't really work due to the delay, and the 'super computer' which was essentially another plug for Virgin Atlantic/Holidays.
