How large is there audience- if we follow the Scots if it’s over 500 it’s an issue

Not sure about TVC but TLS Studio 1 seated 600 but the audience looks a bit smaller this year

They could always trim it back a bit if need be.

Best show of the series by far tonight. I reckon they did have to make some changes last minute but it had a kind of frantic energy that worked for the show.

I’ve no idea whether the series will continue beyond tonight but if it does I wonder if it’ll make them re-think the finale abroad? Not because of the risk of it being called off, they couldn’t have predicted that, but because the show did seem to benefit without having to spend so much time giving away places on the plane.

As for that list of issues making it an ‘annus horribilis‘ up-thread, most of them were utterly trivial. And they are in no way the only TV show to be affected by the virus.

Takeaway does seem to be jinxed though. 2018, Ant didn't do the last couple of shows because he went into rehab, and 2019's series was outright cancelled. Now in 2020, they got disrupted by the Coronavirus. This is the last thing they wanted to happen, it was supposed to be a triumphant return to normality. Now it won't be.

Couldn't they do the segments without an audience pre-recorded?

Reports today suggests the audience was only 200 people, which seemed rather low. Think the threshold seems to be 100 for indoor events in most countries.

Most of the show could take place without an audience, it’s whether they want it to do. Next week you could have the Bradley Walsh undercover, which they are promoting as the highlight of the series, being met with a stony silence as there is nobody there to react to it.

The point being is that with this series of Takeaway it's been quite literally 'one thing after another' happening for ITV, from the small stuff like Dec's fluff up with his lines, to the more bigger stuff like the whole epic final in Disney world called off....when the whole series has pretty much revolved around this big live 'spectacular' to end the series.

This series of SNT has not exactly gone according to plan...(for all the reasons highlighted) ITV bosses would have hoped/expected it to. However in the face of adversity and the challenging times the production faces, tonights show was one of the better ones of the series.

But the point essentially made it sound like Dec fluffing his lines and a bit of swearing was equivalent to Florida being called off. It sounded like one of those Express click bait articles where something completely innocuous is made into a huge issue.

Florida and Coronavirus is a massive issue for the series of course, but it’s going to be a massive issue across the TV industry, it isn’t remotely exclusive to Saturday Night Takeaway. It is going to disrupt so many shows. And everything else listed was very minor and ITV won’t have batted an eyelid at any of it.

So what? who gives a ****?. If they cancel the show it's not going to be because the world couldn't possibly cope with no whipped up audiance reaction to Bradley Walsh's Undercover. Ant &Dec would make it work, they're at their best on I'm A Celebrity...and audiance-less SMTV was considerably better than SNT has ever been.

Might have been worthwhile pre-recording next weeks edition this afternoon. Suspect it'll be too late now.

SM:TV did have an audience though?

Both SMTV Live and I’m a Celeb also had/have the crew laughing in the background. Maybe they’ll have to resort to that on Takeaway.
