I think that creatively now they could do without the 'Place on the Plane', it's far too central to everything and it must prove a logistical nightmare to administer especially now in the midst of a pandemic. The finale doesn't really benefit from it any more but obviously got to keep those sponsors happy.

That said, BBC One seem to have adopted the concept and created a whole show around it now with Take Off with Brad & Holly.

Once you've done a big finale once you can't really back out of it as the show would feel strange without it. If they came back one year and just did 7 normal shows there would be all kinds of negative reports saying the budget had been slashed.

We are currently around three weeks away from the series finale, and three weeks is a long time in the coronavirus path - just look at how fast the numbers of cases are rising in every country day by day. Within three weeks, US could have sky rocketed infection numbers.

If they decide to cancel the US finale, it would be a huge blow to the show, and they could simply do the finale in London, or if they can't it would simply be a highlights show.

Don't worry - he's with his mother listening to Skunk Anansie on a loop.

Not forgetting the wide family appeal of the show I did find it a shame they're off to Disney again - I think the first one they did on the cruise ship in Barcelona was more interesting, though knowing what we know now nobody wants to be winning a place on a cruise either. It does feel though the whole series is built around the final episode and everything up to then is filler.

As for Men is Brown - if that's supposed to be convincing ITV to let Ant and Dec do a sitcom it is failing miserably. Probably a good job too having the "squits" isn't a symptom of Coronavirus as they'd probably have to pull it. However I bet if Harry Hill had a running sketch about the "squits" on one of his shows we'd be lapping it up.

You are linking to that as if it’s some kind of confirmation, when in reality it is no stronger than the conversation taking place in this very thread.

[It does feel though the whole series is built around the final episode and everything up to then is filler.

Well last week we had Ant vs Dec, Men in Brown, The End of the Show Show, Win The Ads and Get Out of my ear which were nothing to do with the finale.

Of course back in the day the whole show was based around Win The Ads, with mini games leading up to the main game, so surely this is just a bigger version of that.

The pay off then though was within the hour rather than over the series.

Breaking in the last few...

Disneyland California temporarily closing. I know SNT is coming from Florida but this could put a potential HUGE spanner in the works if it spreads
