Blimey if the show was "very poor" and "a disaster", that must be a very high bar
Imagine what this forum would have been like if it had been around in Noel's House Party days
When series's lasted 20 episodes, and they'd do the same features and the same jokes every week for at least those 20 episodes, if not 40, 60, 80 episodes.
What would you give the episode out of 10?
Also we keep being told we are in a world of Netflix these days - House Party was in the days of four channels.
The BBC should never have sold TVC. Still angry about it. Just imagine how amazing it would have looked with a upgrade! Dam you BBC!!
I don’t think the show was to bad. It doesn’t feel as loose as it use to. They desperately need fresh ideas. With the huge break they just had you would think they would have come up with a few ideas. The end of the show needs to go. One of the biggest problem for me apart from a third of the show going to an add break is all the product placement. The show was littered with them. Was ITV making up for the poor last quarter? I get a few being in the show but that was ridiculous.
Over all it was 2.5 out of 5. But it will do well in the ratings.
As was widely predicted the introduction of ''discreet'' product placement turned out to be a slippery slope. Saturday Night Takeaway should be a warning to people who think the BBC should introduce ''minimal'' commercial advertising.
Talking of Product Placement even the PP logo seemed less discreet - I'm sure it's bigger now than it was when they launched it. The trouble is when a show has so much product placement it all kind of gets lost - best stick to just one or two brands for maximum exposure.

For me it did feel a bit flat tonight and I've watched every episode they have made.
The audience area does look considerably smaller than previously by about half so I was surprised to see in an earlier post that its actually less than 100 less people. Not having the break in the middle makes it look much smaller.
It was quite uncomfortable to watch the moment the audience laughed just at that moment he was talking about the death of the child and made worse by the fact we were on a close up of Ant & Dec at the time so we could not see them picking their teeth to see what the audience were reacting to but Ant and Dec handled it well
The end of the show show was rubbish in my opinion and just another excuse to have celebs on singing - itv have a never ending stream of singing shows as it is
Ant V Dec is still ok but I much prefer it when they spend a week learning a new skill than just randomly chucking axes with seemingly no prior experience but I did not expect Stephen to be the victim shot into the sky. Ant lost and he should have done it. The set up outside looked quite impressive though with tv centre in the background
The place on the plane segment is nice to see people getting a free holiday for all the good things they do but its been done to death now. why Florida again?. The finale usually feels just like a free holiday for those working on the show and I don't think it adds anything for us at home
I'll give this episode 6/10
Never been a fan of "The Honoured" section it just gets too silly so not looking forward to that
The titles look fine to me if a little short. I've always liked the exploding fireworks with the sign of the show and a subtle nod to TV centre instead of the itv tower
There were absolutely no wide shots of her with the audience in shot and she didn't join them on stage at the end, which I think they usually do if they're in the studio. They also made sure the pan of the audience didn't cross to them.
Not the first time and won't be the last the guest announcer isn't live in the studio - and it is always pretty obvious when they're not
I thought that the opening sketch was humorous, but I was disappointed with the new titles. The reason why I loved the previous incarnations (as well as the theme tune itself) is that it gets the adrenaline going and gets me pumped up for the show.
The set hasn't really changed, though I must admit, watching them do the show in TC1 at TVC made me miss Studio 1 at LWT more.
Camilla was alright as guest announcer. I've always liked the rapport between Ant, Dec and Stephen during their Ant Vs Dec segments. I wish they had chosen a brand new location for the end of series finale rather than going back to Disney World again (for example, Las Vegas?). Mark was not the best Get Out of Me Ear participant, he certainly didn't look that enthusiastic about it all during his live reaction. And I liked how Ant & Dec took the mickey out of the whole thing about people complaining about The Pussycat Dolls' X Factor performance during The End of The Show Show.
But overall, it's good to see an all-round fun entertainment show like SNT back on our screens again. With the amount of negative things happening around us at the moment, we need something like this to distract us from it all.

I'll say it again. The double P should not be shown in the programme titles and break bumpers, but it in one of the corners of the picture when the actual paid placement is seen, or seen and voice over credited.
I thought it was a pretty good start to the series. I do think some of the people claiming it was terrible seem to be doing so for reasons most of the audience watching won’t care about, like the titles and set etc.
Not every segment quite landed. Mark Wallberg wasn’t the best Get Out of Me Ear participant and didn’t seem to particularly want to be there. They’ve got Craig David and Anthony Joshua doing it later in the series so we’ll see if that goes better. Ant vs Dec went on too long although the banter with Mulhern is always good. The laughter at the start was really unfortunate but A&D handled it well and the surprise was quite touching. Hopefully they do some funny openers to the series as well though.
I thought the end show was funny taking the piss out of the complain to OFCOM types and it all flowed well and had a good atmosphere. Happiest Minute is one of those segments that doesn’t last very long (funny, that) but definitely boosts the energy and mood of the show, no surprise to see them keep it.
But great to see it back and people generally seem to have enjoyed it. This forum is the most negative reaction I’ve seen to it, which is unusual.

You're wrong, cdd:
cdd?
Hands up then I was wrong, but the fact it felt like it was all pre-recorded highlights a big problem with the show.

Yes, I thought the End of the Show Show was a decent effort. Happiest Minute definitely lasted longer than a minute - the bloke falling in the mud felt very out of place with everything else going on, but it's one of the better features of the show.
I think tonight’s show was a disaster. Thought Mark Whalberg was incredibly boring and dull. Just a total disconnection between the viewers and guests they had. That show needs relatable people who typical SNT viewers can bounce off. Hopefully they’ll review the episode and learn from their mistakes. But with most of it all ready filmed maybe it’s too late
I am dreading next week's start of the Men in Brown, the trailer looked appalling to me, it just smacks of a childish joke which even a 6 year old would find boring.
Odd that you would choose to watch it then, which is not what I do when I think I won’t enjoy an upcoming piece of television.
How can I judge it if I don't watch it? I just said I was dreading it, because the trailer for it showed a lot of the weaknesses of the routine, and thus I am not overly optimistic that it will be good. I await and see next Saturday night.
