I'm not convinced that bit was live either.

What, they pre-recorded the whole Happiest Minute bit? Because a single shot has her in the background on the plane and then follows Ant as he goes to the audience.

Quote:
There were absolutely no wide shots of her with the audience in shot

Yes there were, apart from the aforementioned.

The first shot of her was a medium crane shot right at the start with a sizeable chunk of the audience (some of whom, I even checked, can be seen in the later shots of Ant and Dec running down the stairs). A few minutes later there was a wide shot with her in the top corner. You could hear her laughing in reaction to something Dec said as she was introduced and all the interaction was clearly live.

I don’t even know why this is being dragged out as a discussion point, as as pointed out earlier they stopped doing pre recorded star guest announcers years ago, probably because it was obvious how stilted they were.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong and she clearly was just very stilted then.

Really poor opener. Takeaway long ago stopped being my favourite Ant and Dec show but this was bad. It's too scripted, too tight, and therefore not very watchable at all.

As others have said the first item giving away the house felt very out of place in a live light entertainment show, and for people who I assume knew nothing about it they didn't look very surprised. Get out of my ear wasn't funny. Pussycat dolls bit was like someone thought of it 10 minutes before going on air. Replacing Scarlett with Andi Peters seems like change for change's sake. Ant vs Dec was where I almost changed the channel. It's all just very going through the motions and over the top laughing / enthusiasm to make it seem like everyone's having a whale of a time. I'm sure Ant and Dec genuinely love and get a buzz off hosting a big live saturday night show but content wise surely they can't think that was one to write home about.

Only vaguely good bits for me were Television Centre (TC1 facade still looks fantastic) and Camilla Cabello.

With all the above in mind it will probably win the ratings by a landslide for every episode.

I think tonight’s show was a disaster. Thought Mark Whalberg was incredibly boring and dull. Just a total disconnection between the viewers and guests they had. That show needs relatable people who typical SNT viewers can bounce off. Hopefully they’ll review the episode and learn from their mistakes. But with most of it all ready filmed maybe it’s too late

If they're going to pre-record it anyway, why would they not do it the day before so they'd have had enough time to get a take without a fluff in it?

Presumably they still wanted people to turn up, after seeing it on the telly.

There wasn't exactly a huge crowd - easy enough to rustle up that many people by having Andi Peters knock on a few doors on a Friday night - and that second bit still didn't have the LIVE dog, if that's evidence of anything.

If The Super Computer doesn't turn up next week we riot.

I won't link anything but the usual suspects have already churned out articles about the badly timed laugh, as well as an article just for Billy about Dec's slip of the tongue at the close of the show.

Gotta get dem clikcs, boiz.

I must say even though it was unfortunate Ant & Dec handled it very well once they realised why people were laughing which was very quickly.

I hope JKDerry doesn’t go on twitter just now. Lots of people quite shocked at seeing Takeaway come from ‘BBC Television Centre’ and when asking why, many are saying that BBC sold it to ITV and that the BBC moved to Manchester. Laughing

When ITV use the exterior of TV Centre on air all over the place it’s an easy mistake to make.

Don't worry, I have not gone ballistic - I am used to it by now. It is the BBC's original fault in selling it all in the first place anyway. It is weird, as on audience ticket websites they do not know what to call it - Television Centre, BBC TV Centre, BBC Studios, BBC Studioworks - I have seen all these names used for TC1. A bit like The London Studios was also known as Kent House and The London Television Centre.

I am dreading next week's start of the Men in Brown, the trailer looked appalling to me, it just smacks of a childish joke which even a 6 year old would find boring.

Blimey if the show was "very poor" and "a disaster", that must be a very high bar

Imagine what this forum would have been like if it had been around in Noel's House Party days

When series's lasted 20 episodes, and they'd do the same features and the same jokes every week for at least those 20 episodes, if not 40, 60, 80 episodes.

Odd that you would choose to watch it then, which is not what I do when I think I won’t enjoy an upcoming piece of television.
