Saturday Night Takeaway 2018

So not a big goodbye for the Studios, but the sequence at Studio 2 was enough. (I see the LWT Pic too).

There were some elements of the show that did fall incredibly flat - certainly the walking through the corridor without the chemistry with Ant felt almost cringeworthy. However, Dec has proved that the show can still go on, even without the aid of Ant by his side. I would hope that the bosses over at ITV are feeling a little less worried about the 'volatility' (for the lack of another word) surrounding Ant, since when worst comes to worst, Dec is ultimately capable of supporting himself and his crew members.

I believe Ant and Dec's three-year contract with ITV ends in 2019 - one wonders with the problems that Ant is facing, and the imminent baby for Dec, whether their entertaining on ITV will be put on hold. I guess it's not the job for an anonymous TVForum member to decide anyway!

My mum suggests that Dec being quite good on his own might even cause issues when ant becomes available again , and for my money takeaway was done in the correct way a few quick jokey comments and get on with it and as we’ve just seen job done

Ant and Dec and family and agents to sort that one out when it becomes clearer as to the new contract negotiations

Thought Dec did really well. Shaky at first -- positioned himself as if Ant was next to him, but understandable. He is a natural and better at doing the tongue in cheek remarks. Credit to Stephen Merchant too, a guest announcer who exuded calmness.

Liked that sequence but the End of the Show Show was a let down considering during the show it was built up to be a tribute to TLS.

Where were Davinas episodes of Dont try this at home from. Im presuming here too and that it perhaps meant something to her to be part of the goodbye to the studios.

It was an LWT show so I won't be surprised if it came from TLS.

I had no doubts that Dec would do well by himself. He and Ant are two of the best and most experienced live TV presenters in the country, there's no reason why either of them shouldn't be able to do that job by themselves. Neither of them is an Ernie Wise, they're both a Bernie Winters!

I don't think it is the end of them as a duo but I think they'll both start to do solo work from now to give them more options for their careers, especially Dec. I can see him doing a decent prime time game show

I think Dec did very well. He was nervous at first - but it was clear his quips were more light-jokes than proper digs. I don't think he hates Ant or anything but I think the frustration was a little genuine. But Stephen, Davina and Merchant all did a really top job supporting him tonight, they seemed to opt for having Scarlett be a bit more in the background this week.

Florida will be a real challenge, I don't know what their plan is with Universal, but last year both Ant and Dec were struggling with the heat a bit while performing in the Magic Kingdom. Hopefully they have somewhere with some shade this time!

But I think Dec will hold out for Ant if possible. But will really come down to time and how they are feeling. With a baby on the way Dec can't really afford to wait too long, and Ant probably needs to know there's no pressure to return asap. So he may have to go solo even though they always claimed that to be unlikely

Did any old SMTV Live viewers notice that during his link in the empty Studio 2 Dec emerged from the bottom of the screen like he used to do on Captain Justice? Really not sure if it was intentional or not...

I think for Florida let’s not stifle Dec with wearing a suit.

I think I would appreciate them wearing just a smart short sleeved shirt to cool them down to wearing a full on suit with their faces full of sweat.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Cat makes another appearance, especially without Ant. I’m sure with the Florida show they could do with a second pair of hands.
