I don't see the need for Dec to directly address the issue - if it is addressed directly a video statement from Ant would be the most effective measure , but whether that's wise from a legal stand point I'm not sure (I don't think they'd be an issue as long as he doesn't directly refer to the case).

It's one of those situations where it'll be awkward if he does, awkward if he doesn't. It's going to be awkward anyway so it'll be about doing what feels right. It's not the first show that's had to go to air in difficult circumstances and it won't be the last - and I think the trick is probably putting the viewers at the centre of it rather than the hosts.

Legal issues aside, there's no way they would, or could, do this. He's in rehab, and shouldn't be in a state to appear in a video message. If he appeared broken and disheveled it would be seen as an intrusion of his privacy and would be a terrible thing to feature on a light entertainment show, and if he looked healthy and glowing he'd be criticised for just using rehab to minimise the backlash against him...

The returning show will feature Stephen Merchant as guest announcer, Paloma Faith in the end of the show show, Singalong Live with The Script and In for a Penny.

Surely it'd make sense to rename the programme to Saturday Night Takeaway for the next 2 shows as the pair aren't hosting together? It's often referred to that anyways so it wouldn't make much difference to change it in the EPG.

It's possible...

but unlikely for two shows. If nothing else, imagine the indignity of those that bemoan the fact that Ruth & Eamonn don't get their own This Morning titles.

A number of programmes which have the name of the presenter in the programme name often have guest presenters, sometimes on a regular basis, without changing the programme name, so can't see any reason for them changing it for Saturday Night Takeaway.

Some examples of this are Victoria Derbyshire and The Wright Stuff.

That's the worst thing to happen to Saturday Night Takeaway all week. I think we were all hoping for a send off to the London Studios to be the End of the Show Show that night, and maybe originally it would have been.

Maybe a Firework Display or Dec switching off the lights for the last time will happen

Saturday Night Takeaway won't be the last programme to be recorded at the London Studios, so Dec switching off the lights for the last time would only be the last time for that show, and not the studios themselves.

I doubt we will see anything about the closure of TLS besides maybe one line in the script, it’d be too confusing a message for viewers, especially now with the show going to feel strange anyway, and it not being SNT’s last episode of the series, and with them also going heavy on nostalgia for the 100th show a few weeks ago.

With the future of the whole show in question depending on how Ant & Dec regroup later, making a fuss of it being the last show and switching off the lights and the like wouldn’t feel right.

plus ITV can get another 2 hours bonanza programme about it during the summer using old clips and talking to people, cheap as chips!

There was a twitter meltdown with some people when Dec thanked the London Studios during the 100th episode and some people in twitter land thought it was the end of Takeaway.
