Most of the posts here seem to be concentrating on Ant. however the effects on poor Dec, who is not only Ant's work colleague but his mate. We can only imagine the stress of dealing with the fall out from ITV, but also wanting to support his mate, and although he is a professional, stepping out on that stage live a week Saturday without Ant is going to be I would think very difficult for him, and once SNT is over he will have to make some big decisions on how he is going to handle the rest of this year. As I cannot see Ant being well enough to be back working until sometime in 2019.
With the decision made at this early stage to air the last two shows, this should give them some time to record anything extra they need to make up the time used by any dropped slots. They have got 3 episodes content to go into 2 now, so that will help.
I am guessing Saturday Knight Takeaway will be held back until later in the year and aired as a special as they did at Christmas and the only bits to be dropped are any Undercover/Get Out Of My Ears left. Everything else is fine with Dec only and they could even do a Dec Vs ... if they wanted to.
I assume Dec will come on from the stage rather than down the stairs, as per the guests. They can't make it too jokey, but could do something with Dec rushing back stage to get ready and then appear on stage.
Let us not forget what Saturday Night Takeaway is. A pure, fun filled Saturday prime time show. The production team are not going to drop recorded items just because Ant is not there. This is not a funeral programme, it does not need to be sombre. Acknowledging what happened at the start of the show, but carry on and have some fun. The whole point of the show is to brighten up Saturday nights. That is why they are keeping the Flordia special too (as well as other reasons). There is no reason why Saturday Knight Takeway final parts will not air, it will air. ITV just have to balance the fun with the final two shows.
I don't see the need for Dec to directly address the issue - if it is addressed directly a video statement from Ant would be the most effective measure, but whether that's wise from a legal stand point I'm not sure (I don't think they'd be an issue as long as he doesn't directly refer to the case).
It's one of those situations where it'll be awkward if he does, awkward if he doesn't. It's going to be awkward anyway so it'll be about doing what feels right. It's not the first show that's had to go to air in difficult circumstances and it won't be the last - and I think the trick is probably putting the viewers at the centre of it rather than the hosts.

That was during the era that she was a parody of herself, but also I think there was a carefully honed art in casually walking and hitting the spot because the set was a lot smaller than it appeared.

Surely it'd make sense to rename the programme to Saturday Night Takeaway for the next 2 shows as the pair aren't hosting together? It's often referred to that anyways so it wouldn't make much difference to change it in the EPG.

What good would it do though? As has been mentioned, ITV aren't at the point where they're trying to airbrush Ant out of the show. It'll just ease the blood pressure of a select few OCD sufferers.
