In terms of ITV throwing all their eggs in one basket ... the problem is there are only so many presenters who can do what Ant and Dec do, and are the undisputed A-team. Who just have that little bit extra flair that makes people specifically tune in for them.

The nearest person I can think of beyond them is Dermot O'Leary, who was probably worth a few extra points for The X Factor, but otherwise you've got a lot of really good presenters - the people who present the vast majority of ITV prime-time shows - but no-one exceptional, because these people don't come around that often.

You only get a few every generation - Noel Edmonds, Chris Evans, Bruce Forsyth - who are stratospheric. Everyone else is the B team.

The point I was trying to make is that This Morning ignored it and if it was someone else especially from outside ITV they probably would mention it.

I think this is more to do with the fact that Phillip, Holly and Ant are close friends, not because he works for ITV.

As has been pointed out, Good Morning Britain and Lorraine both covered the story.

I wonder if ITV will be saying anything before The Voice on why SNT isn't on. Like an Announcement or maybe the Head of Entertainment of ITV will say something to the camera.

That would be amazing - a Lorraine Heggassy tribute 20 years on. 😂

(It won’t happen)

Chris Evans. Stratospheric? After what he did to TopGear...? Seriously? And by his own admission (on VD last week) Noel Edmonds also was never the 'A Team'. I digress - sorry.

Schedule for Saturday, The Voice UK is moved forward.

19:00 The Voice UK
21:00 Through the Keyhole

It's a shame this has been announced so soon. I was looking forward to 12 pages of fantasy scheduling.

Be a shame to break the news to families who received places on the plane, if the last two shows don’t go ahead. However, they probably wouldn’t care.

That's all true, but in the past you didn't have the same personality doing as much as Ant & Dec do and channels weren't as reliant. In the past ITV or the BBC would have several AntandDecs on their schedule during the year all doing different LE subgenres.

There's such a dearth of talent these days that Ant and Dec are ITVs Brucie and Monkhouse and Noel and Morecambe and Wise all at the same time

And BBC One’s equivalents are Tess Daly, Mel and Sue and Ore Oduba!

You don’t get as many true entertainers anymore like you say, just slightly entertaining presenters.

Rather surprised that this weeks episode has been cancelled, I would've been less surprised if they had simply replaced Ant with someone like Holly Willoughby for the week. That said, Ant & Dec are a brand themselves, and I can't think of a time when they've actually presented seperately. Surely this puts the other episodes into jeopardy too.

As an aside, pretty pitiful on This Morning's part for not mentioning this today, IMO. It was, and remains, *THE* story for their typical audience... Holly & Phillip clearly had an editorial say in this, it's a shame whoever was editing today didn't tell them they should be covering it. If anything, it made them look foolish, as people noticed, and called them out for it. Not to mention, it led GMB and was mentioned on Lorraine.

No, that happened about 20 years before he did Top Gear!

It was mentioned on Lorraine, but then she got slated for supporting him, and not sticking the boot in, so I’d be a lose lose situation whatever.
