ITV should terminate his contract/suspend him.

I think he need help more than anything else but it will open up questions to the rest of the shows on SNT and if he can leave the UK instead of getting help.

I really do wonder what ITV will do now, they surely must be worrying.
I definitely feel sorry for Dec, can his career continue without Ant?

Simples there be ITV doc about Ant and his troubles sometime down the line...

OK, so first things first due process, there's an active case because someone has been arrested, so I'm not going to cast any aspersions on whether he's guilty or innocent.
Looking at it from the point of view of the arrest, I find it impossible to imagine that ITV will just plough on as if nothing had happened. We have an incident in which a very young child appears to have been injured and one of the presenters has been accused of drink driving. The legendary court of public opinion is unlikely to stand for it. Beyond that, there's a duty of care to one of their star presenters.
You would imagine ITV would have a standby show ready in events like this. Either a best of, although there's an argument that could be problematic in the circumstances, or another show they can throw on instead.
Impossible to tell what the mood will be tomorrow at this stage, so we'll all have to wait and see how it shakes down tomorrow morning. But at this stage I would be astonished if the show's on this weekend coming.

He’s clearly going through mental health problems at the moment, I don’t think it would look very at all if ITV terminated his contract.
It would be the immediate term ITV are more worried about. It would be very difficult for Ant to host on Saturday.

I’m sure he’s probably more worried about his mate than his career.

In terms of ITV, Saturday Night Takeaway is a minor inconvenience should this turn out to be as factual as the media are reporting - the problem will be the fact BGT is due to begin immediately after and they've pretty much finished filming all the audition footage I would assume, so it would be quite hard to airbrush Ant out of that.

My first thought: sad a child is involved in something like this. Thank god she's alright.
Re Ant, some of the media have almost been waiting for a moment like this, so it'll be interesting to see what happens next. I don't think SNT will be pulled because of the finale build-up, but it'll be weird to see Dec presenting as a standalone.
Where's Cat Deeley's number?
