This Great Britain business has caused a stir on Twitter. Half the people think Ant and Dec are wrong, half the people think they are making some sort of political statement wading into Northern Irish politics. Half the people think they meant to say that Southern Ireland isn’t part of Britain.
I bet they would have been best just saying ‘Battle of Britain’ as the pedants on the opposite side would have been less aggressive.
I know its not the double B of Battle of Britain but Battle of the United Kingdom would have done!

Precisely.
'Sofawatch - Battle of the UK'.
It's not difficult. I don't quite get what all the N.I. statement business was all about.

* The biggest island of British isles is Great Britain
* Ireland is part of the British isles
* We live in United kingdom of Great britain and Northern ireland, which is explain on the above
Bless them. I'm a pedant so I normally hate it when Britain is used as a catch-all for the UK, but I have to say tackling the issue in a light-hearted skit on a Saturday night shiny-floor TV show is "brave"*.
I'm sure a lot of people on Ireland would disagree with that
Then said people Would be silly. Isle of man is part of British isle but isn't run by westminter. Of course Ireland ref to the island and not the two counties.
That's an incredibly contentious definition - and not universally accepted by any means. Many consider the island of Ireland to NOT be part of the British Isles, and using the term to include Ireland is very politically loaded to this day...
